2016 DRAFT Signing Tracker ... FINAL, JULY 15

Is it that big a loss if Shumpert doesn't sign? I know he was a 7th round pick out of HS last year, but he did not have a good year in JUCO.

Much more interested in working something out with Anthony personally - but that's just me.

Did Shumpert sign? I haven't seen anything, but he has a check. I assume that is a mistake, but wanted to check in case I missed something.

Based that on a twitter response he made the week of the draft. Until I know differently, I'm going to leave him checked.

While that "Meet the Braves" handout is not an official release of the roster, going to assume someone knows something because O'Malley and Hearn are both included.

Reading the fine print on the Danville poster, missed (twice) that Jared James, Dion's son and projected as a tough sign I thought, is on the Danville roster as well!

According to some guy that overheard a conversation at Jimmy Johns, we've signed Anthony. I'm going to pretty amused if this turns out to be true.

I mean, it's the most unreliable source ever, but it'll be awesome if it's somehow true.

So, you heard it, or you read that someone heard it.. I mean, I don't think Anthony is going to be a hard sign if we can muster up a couple hundred grand in our pool.

Damn... I think Anthony may end up being a really good one. Has the potential to be a first rounder when he's eligible again if he keeps doing his thing.

Justin Ellison was signed from the same JuCo as Anthony last year and he had just as good of a batting line, maybe even better. So far Ellison has looked pretty pedestrian in the minors so I am not sure Anthony is a huge loss. Seems like the competition and hitting environment at Western Oklahama can lead to some misleading, hyperinflated batting stats.

This season Western Oklahoma has six guys on their roster with a slugging percentage over .600 and ten guys with a slugging percentage over .500. And, that is out of sixteen hitting lines on their roster. Almost half their roster is slugging .600 or better, in other words, so take Anthony's hitting stats with some healthy pessimism.

Yeah if anyone truly thought he had a chance to be a first rounder one day, there's no chance he would've lasted as long as he did. There are few things more meaningless than juco hitting stats.

It's important to remember that Western Oklahoma is a D-2 JUCO. I'm not saying Anthony (or Ellison) won't become decent players, but it's not the highest level of competition. Andrelton Simmons also played at Western Oklahoma and hit .432 in his one season there.

Level of competition notwithstanding, Justin Ellison was good enough of a prospect to get a scholarship offer from Oklahoma State, who is sitting pretty in the CWS right now. Josh Anthony was also good enough to get a scholarship from Auburn. At Auburn, Butch Thompson is an excellent recruiter. Colin Holderman was a D2 JUCO guy out of Heartland CC in Illinois that was taken in the 9th round by the Mets. He was a Mississippi State signee.
