2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Lund has no clue what he's talking about. Cruz is running a very intelligent and well thought out campaign. IMO, he's running the best campaign of any candidate on either side outside of maybe Hillary. To simplify his campaign the way Lund did in that quote is willful ignorance. It's a data driven campaign with a clear strategy to not only win the primary but also win the general election. What he says, how he says it and when he says it is all calculated.

Think about the fact that Ted Cruz is actually an insider. He had a significant role in G-Dub's campaign and his wife worked for freaking goldman sacchs. Somehow he is the only insider candidate that nobody thinks is an insider. This was a calculated move from the beginning. Cruz recognized where America was heading and purposely presented himself as an anti washington establishment guy even though he is absolutely an insider.

He has a hideous face, burned lots of bridges early in his career because of his over agressive desire to advance himself and is actually an insider, yet he finds himself as the lone candidate with a smidgen of a chance to defeat the phenomenon known as Trumpism.

Yeah, I think that's the better read on Cruz and I'm no Cruz fan.

The Democrats having an entire debate that revolves around why a state and city ran by Democrats for 80 years is so ****ty. And not once will they admit their failures.

I think that Cruz has run a very good campaign (with the dirty-tricks bobbles excepted), and particularly so since the race turned nasty—he's attacked Trump on substance, in the places that hurt, and let Rubio diminish himself by going in the gutter with the Donald. It's supremely ironic—and to his credit—that he, who'd have a hard time getting any of his colleagues to urinate on him if he were on fire, comes off looking better than Rubio, who seems like, if nothing else, an otherwise nice guy.

Frankly, I'm not sure how good a politician Ted Cruz is. I don't know how well his skills would translate to a broader audience, where the electorate isn't Texas and won't be comprised of folks with the same presuppositions as his. He's smart, he's ambitious, and I'd wager that he' ruthless as well, but he's not exactly the most likable cat.

Lund's characterization of him is as a person and as a politician, and it rings pretty true to me. He's made a career by grandstanding and playing to the cheap seats, and has pretty much telegraphed his intentions since the day he got elected to the Senate.

Cruz is running pretty much the same campaign Santorum ran four years ago with the biggest difference being Cruz is a lot smarter than Santorum and much more nimble politically. I wouldn't classify Cruz as an insider. He obviously knows politics well from the inside, but he's pretty much been a pariah in his own caucus since he arrived in Washington. That probably helps him now, but would likely hurt him in the general. As nimble as he is, I don't know how he could start to position himself as more moderate without facing the same treason charges that have been leveled against other conservatives once they imbibe water out of the Potomac.

Sanders is more extreme than any other candidate on abortion. He was asked if he supports restriction on abortion at any point in a woman's pregancy and he essentially says he does not. That actually is a position that supports murder, imo. He got a lot of claps for that one too.

I understand what Bernie was trying to say. He just severely bungled the wording. That's the age we live in. You better say exactly what you mean.
