2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Did it make any sense to you, objectively speaking (or I guess if you just had to throw your brain out a window)?

The more I think about it, I can see this type of mentality really beginning to reverberate. A lot of people in this country are simply ignorant to reality. I think many more than we believe.

I mean, I met somebody the other day who proclaimed the reason gas is so cheap is because Obama has dipped into the country's oil reserves to make himself look good.

I just kind of sat there. I'm still just kind of sitting here.

I think I see the angle he's going to. He did clarify that it would be a temporary ban, not on us citizens. But a lot of what he said was trump smokescreen. I honestly don't think trump actually believes what he says. He's saying it to cause a commotion and I think he thinks he can win playing to the lowest common denominator. I mean you've done something right (or wrong) when Dick Cheney and Hillary Clinton both agree that what you said is out of line.

To add to your point Hawk most of the electorate is clueless of everyday goings of politics in general.

Dems have blind and uneducated followers just as the GOP do. I mean Obama strikes me as more of an agnostic but I think he just plays the Christian thing because the public outcry over an openly agnostic/atheist president.

Your average Joe doesn't have a conversation about politics like we do. It's simplified by what they see online and news media

I mean remember when Ebola was all the rave and everybody was talking about it? Or when everyone was an expert on Crimea intervention. Those events have gone by and everyone forgot. I'd almost forgotten about the LA shooter that got tracked down by cops in the mountains.

Media plays a big role and they're obviously going to go for ratings which just dumbsdown things for population. I mean I remember in the mid 2000's when Wolf Blitzer was leading off the situation room with breaking news updates on Anna Nicole Smith's child.

I learned today about all the tips muslims have given to law enforcement to prevent attacks turning in their own.
We don't hear about these things on the mainstream news. Nor do you ever plan on seeing it on right wing social media.

If they are shown it they will just say it's Obama's lies. So we're screwed either way.

It is amusing though. I've been watching Morning Joe for years, and before jumping into the race Trump was a frequent guest at the table just laughing and Joking with Mika, Joe, and Willie. I think that's why he does so many exclusive phone calls on the campaign for them. He's on there every day after a debate or controversial comment he says.

I dont know how I got on his email list but I have started getting the corniest emails from Ben Carson. Some of my favorite snippets.

"But I think you understand me just fine. In fact, I think we're probably very much alike, and now more than ever, I need you to re-commit to this fight we've undertaken together."

"Together we've built a movement of millions. Now it's time to show what we can do. Now is the time when it really counts."

Your top choice the religious extreme, running for Israeli prime minister even though he is Canadian Ted Cruz?

Really?

Nice job sticking up for fascism though by defending trump in some small way

I love Cruz. I personally don't have a religious litmus test but apparently you do? Anyways, I'm not interested in that bigoted stuff.

I'm not afraid to say that Trump is sticking his neck out there and being who he is. I think it's laughable that folks are comparing him to Hitler. Give me a break. I appreciate that he's pointing out his biases and not hiding from them.

Just curious weso, what is it that you like about Rafael? I know our choices this time around (again) are pretty thin to say the least, but I just don't get what some people like about him. Edumacate me if you would.

Trump is not going to be the nominee. Half these people telling the polling organizations they support him are likely to think twice when they're actually standing in front of the voting machine.

I'd be worried about him running as an independent though. It only takes 2-3 percent of the popular vote, particularly in the key 5-6 states to swing it.

I wouldn't be so sure. Back in 1980, none of us in the business thought Reagan would trounce Carter the way he did using the same "no one is going to vote for a nut in the privacy of the voting booth" mentality (I was one of the few in my tribe who thought Reagan would win). Reagan wasn't a nut, but he was a conservative who used pointed rhetoric on a number of issues. Trump is way overboard compared to Reagan (but political discussion in the country has really disintegrated over the past sixty years with the breakdown of the consensus combined with the new media), but I think he has struck a chord with a lot of voters and I think he has staying power. Part of me believes he still wants to go third party and not be bound by anyone, so we'll see how it unfolds.

GOP running scared of Trump third party hints prove their only concern is winning - not governing or standing up to a Fascist bully but, winning
For winnings sake

Seen this before

Just like (D) is running away from Sanders Socialistic affiliation
oh wait, their not

Proving again, both parties aren't the same.
One party (local-state and federal) will support a Fascist and hate speech to garner votes
the other ... not so much

....
There are posters confused why Trump is being compared to Hitler.
I see a 21st century il Duce myself

I'm shocked that a majority of Republicans who refuse to believe President Obama was born in the United States also want to ban Muslims.

The longer this goes 50, the more I'm inclined to agree with your assessment.

If one of these four make it as pres, we are screwed.,

1. Trump
2. Clinton
3. Carson
4. Sanders

Might as well gear up for some nasty things in government.

of course i do

i would think most people wouldn't want a religious based gov't pushing their religious laws on everyone like this is Iran, Saudi Arabia or ISIS Controlled land

I appreciate that he's pointing out his biases and not hiding from them.

Even better: overcoming one's biases, and not clutching them like pearls.

Also: while I still think (or, at least sincerely hope?) the Trump–Hitler comparisons are absurd, there is a particularly virulent strain of frothing nativist populism they both place at the heart of their rhetoric (not to mention a desperate and pitched "people love me!" cult-of-personality). Again, I'm not saying they're currently comparable within any meaningful order-of-magnitude, but can you at least see why Trump reasonably frightens some reasonable people with his highly polemical posture (and thus why some of those people unreasonably draw said comparison)?

Muslims who help are pretty much screwed either way too. They certainly don't want their support of America to get around in their communities. Better to deal with the random American racists than the jihadists.
