2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Good point thank you
I don't see it a bad thing having this conversation.
Thinking most sitting in would agree

But, let's not lose sight of the stated purpose of the Sit In. To get a vote in the House on Gun Regulation

Stein and her party have a natural affinity with the less Democratic-minded elements of the Bernie Sanders coalition; her platform includes single-payer health care, a carbon tax, and student-loan-debt forgiveness. A recent CNN/ORC poll showed Stein winning 18 percent of the Democrats and independents who currently favor Sanders if Clinton wins the nomination. The same survey showed Stein at 7 percent overall; with Johnson at 9 percent. If these numbers actually held into the heat of the general-election campaign, 2016 could become the first presidential election with four serious candidates since 1948 when Strom Thurmond's States' Rights Party and Henry Wallace's Progressives all ran credible campaigns.

As much as I agree with the politics of the Green Party, I have been very disappointed in their inability or reluctance to grow and mainstream their brand by running for local and state offices. All it does is run a protest candidate for the purpose of putting up a symbolic middle finger to status quo politics as usual from the Democratic/Republican dichotomy without the movement building at the local and state level to legitimize its brand for the national race. Start mainstreaming your brand with Main Street America by running and winning local and state races and then you can be taken seriously on the National level when running for the Presidency.

@NWEASTCOASTER This is a fine critique of the Green Party, and a summation of my own issues with it (though I am alright with the symbolic middle finger, as small as it tends to be).

After Trump’s responses to Orlando and Brexit, perhaps Paul Ryan can draw on his reputed intellect to explain to us how Clinton is worse.

Sitting out the election because a candidate doesn't pass a purity test.
Remember

The Supreme Court is at stake.

Compared to Trump ...

yes, I think HRC understands better the process and that judicial temperament takes precedence over ideology. I don't think her picks would be that different than Obama.

Not so sure her opponent

The most recent WSJ poll has Johnson and Stein polling at 16% collectively. This is a clear indication that the people want a 3rd option... yet the dumb rules the RNC/DNC made with the debates will keep them both out.

Pollsters should probably keep Stein out, since she won't be on all ballots... I don't care who it is, I just want a 3rd party on the debate stage.

This is funny.

You had a 4 year opportunity to create a candidate / party to vote for.
I haven't heard the name of Gary Johnson until April of this year and the last time was August of 2012

The debate rules regarding participation have been in place since you were in grade school -- fact of the matter in place coming out of the 2012 election .
This is not new or some conspiracy - shoot, Gay Marriage has become mainstream, why not the Libertarian or Green Party?
All that these two 3rd party candidates would do on a debate stage is take up space that could be used for a flag or something

Even Ron Paul understands that

Tell me why a candidate who is on all 50 state ballots + DC should not be allowed in the debate

I'm not defending it I just understand that the rule that has been in place since the 1980's.
Gary Johnson has no chance of being President. Frankly, he doesn't put the work in
He doesn't poll 15%

Will you be working to get this rule changed in odd numbered years? As in 2017-19 -21 or just piss and moan in Presidential years
Democracy works. Re: LGBT Rights

The Republican and Democratic parties own the Debate commission... if a person were to achieve 15%, I'd bet a lot of money the rules would suddenly change against that person

Why isn't Johnson at 15 % ?
If I were you, that is where I'd start

Why didn't Johnson compete with Trump,Cruz Rubio etal?
Or run against Clinton / Sanders ?

The field has been whittled to two candidates.
Before you start I'll again offer the gains the LGBT ers made in the past 4 years. No third party or hoop la. Just worked in the existing system and made it work for them
