2016 Trade Deadline Rumors and Moves

A .285 OBP

Okay... I said that about Lucroy and Freeman was just about 3 wRC+ away. Basically in a statistical margin or error. So pretty much the same hitter this year. The Kemp claim is just ridiculous and a bit hysterical. Kemp is terrible but I'd still give Olivera for him.

I would be interested to see if he puts up better numbers at this stage of his career outside of SD and LA. Both are pretty bad hitters parks

Freeman has an .885 OPS and isn't terrible defensively at his position like Kemp. Kemp had a .755 OPS last year and will probably put up the same or worse this year. Plus given his hip issues he'll likely decline further next year and so on.

Kemp was 2nd on the team with that ops to JUp's .790. Think the pitching park could've hurt his ops any?

Okay. Taking back one of Olivera or Markakis along with a B level prospect ought to do it then.

Two rival GMs believe #Indians are front-runner for #Brewers’ Lucroy. One prospect who could lead package: High A catcher Francisco Mejia.

Kemp is still hitting considerably better on the road than at home. Again, it all depends on how much contract is eaten and who is going to SD, but Kemp can still be a useful piece. Who knows how his defense would hold up in LF. But a good chance he grades better at LF than he has at RF so far.

I think there is a decent chance of a small improvement there because of that, and also a decent chance he's only fairly below average defensively in LF rather than horrid like he is in RF. Not that I'd expect anything amazing, but he could be okay if that's the case. Worth giving it a shot if they are eating most the money and we aren't giving up anything of substance. I think it beats most of the alternatives I've seen. I'd much rather see Kemp than give Desmond/Cespedes 5 year deal or trade for someone like Braun and give up real talent.

Given that I'm pretty sure we will trade for or sign an OF, 3B, and C by the beginning of next season because of the new stadium, I'd rather we get those players without giving up our second rounder or major prospects that set back the rebuild.

He was tried in left field already in past years and was terrible there too. Terrible range, bad DRS, etc. He is one of if not the worst DH type trying to play defense going right now.

All the signing bonus, at least. The Braves are still on the hook for his salary... a very reasonable amount if were at all a Major League hitter.

Yep, including this year we owe him just over 30 mil through 2020. 6 mil a year would have been very reasonable if he were worth anything. Instead it's another Chris Johnson contract.

He's played like 45 games in LF. Hardly enough time for an accurate gauge.
