2016 Trade Deadline Rumors and Moves

It's important to remember that the trade deadline likely doesn't matter for a McCann deal. He's unlikely to be claimed during the waiver period.

rangers are working on lucroy. havent heard it's close, but very opportunistic if they land him.

The #Dodgers now even more desperate for pitching help as Bud Norris leaves with injury with one out in the 1st inning.

My gosh.

Coppy just reiterated that tehe isn't moving. Hope this is because he can't get what he wants and not a stubbornness due to the new park.

Probably the former.

He'd be dealt if a team offered a haul, i'm sure.

I worry it's because Coppy has delusions we will be competitive next year

The Kemp trade kind of suggests that as well. Although I will say some of the positives about that move is that it didn't involve any prospects or losing any future draft picks. It's also only for 3 years. So while it is an overpay in regards to $$$ imo it's not substantial and does free up salary in 2020. The poor defense will hurt but hopefully having a plus defender in center in either Ender of Mallex will mitigate that somewhat. And Kemp is an upgrade offensively which the team needs badly.

Maybe they made the Kemp trade as a possible PR move because they now "expect" T-ran might be traded. That way they can say "this was unexpected...heck we just spent money when we traded for Kemp".

****I am worried "because" of the new ball park...they will not trade him for ANY offer..which I disagree with!!****

Coppy might not be aiming for competitive next year, just watchable.

There is a Yuge (see what I did there) difference between competing and contending. I doubt anyone thinks the Braves are contending next year, but I think they believe it is important to compete. They want to be better going into the new digs.

im pretty sure the team will be like that girl that maybe isnt the prettiest but ends up being the most fun to dance with

Rangers fan? LOL JK... Seriously, sounds like they are going to trade Gallo along with "one of Yohander Mendez or Luis Ortiz" if this trade happens. It also seems Texas is aiming to get a reliever back as well, possibly Thornberg who's from Texas and was held out today same as Lucroy. That said, I do think it is wise of Texas to both trade Gallo now and go for it this year and next in an effort to win a WS before Beltre gets too old. Gallo strikes out way too much for my liking, legit power but poor contact skills and his defense at first the other night was awful too. This is why I disagreed with those wanting to trade Teheran to Texas for Gallo a while back.

I want no part of Gallo.

I see several teams giving up "nice" returns for pitchers who are not as good as JT.

For a little more they could have the better pitcher. Will it backfire on any of them? (Wade Miley)

Man I wish the internet was around back when Atlanta was digging themselves out of the late '80s hole they were in back in 1991. I would imagine that there would have been several comments about how their young pitching had not lived up to the hype and how the team did not have a chance to compete.
