2017 Opening Day Roster Taking Shape

We don't need additional defensive versatility on the bench. We already have plenty of that in Bonifacio, Peterson and D'Arnaud. What we need is a professional hitter from the left side.

I wouldn't be shocked if we make a move for someone today and Recker goes away at that point.

Suzuki's hot spring seems to have convinced someone that he should be used more as a pinch hitter.

Then it must be because the mighty John's didn't address it then?

Why would this surprise you when JS failed to assemble a decent bench and reliable bullpen every year he was here. It was scrape heap galore, thankfully Bobby and Leo were that good, and while it worked in the regular season it cost us big time...and I mean bigly in October.

I think Recker being a catcher is secondary to him being a hitter. Not a lot of better hitting options for the bench. I also think we'll acquire someone at some point and send Recker down.

It's not surprising. What is surprising is that someone might have said something bad about the front office. I was led to believe they were perfect.

I don't love every move by the Johns but they haven't all sucked. This bench.....sucks.

I don't get the sensitivity to criticism of the FO either. Those of us who criticize them also praise some of their moves. The Miller trade was universally praised at the time. A lot of us have liked some of their smaller trades, like the one that sent Uribe/Kelly Johnson to the Mets.
