2018 MLB Draft Thread

I know the Braves really wanted Senzel a couple years ago and Bohm has similar hitting attributes. But more power.

the big change in BA's mock is they have the Mets taking Kelenic, leading Bohm to slide a few spots

Bohm is basically what folks are hoping Gorman becomes in 3 years, with a better arm and more athleticism.

Anyone worried about Bohm should be doubly worried about Gorman.

I don't want Gorman either. Give me Madrigal(highly doubt he makes it to our pick), Winn, Liberatore/Stewart

Re: Bohm and others, What do we know about college players's stats at relatively low levels of competition?

Wichita is a good program historically, but that's not an SEC or ACC or Pac 10 level of competition.

I guess he did well at Cape Cod and the CPL.

Wichita was a good program historically. They hired away former Arkansas hitting coach Todd Butler, disappointing exactly no one in the state of Arkansas, and haven't been worth a damn since. The Hogs' offense has improved by leaps and bounds under his two successors.

Whether that means Bohm has untapped upside, I have no idea. It likely doesn't mean a damn thing, other than an opportunity for me to take a shot at a former underperforming hitting coach yet again.

If I ever knew Adam Dunn played QB at Texas, I had forgotten it. The more you know.

Maybe you should have gone with a Todd Helton reference instead

I considered Kyle Parker, but that seemed obscure. More applicable though. Kyler is small and fast.

Meh. I always like to reference Dunn when I can.

Rich Hill is a comp that comes to mind on Stewart -- but only if the velocity did not come along. No injury issues implied.

What's the comp if he did end up Mid 90s?

From what I’ve read, he went from maxing out in the low 90s last year to peaking at 96 this year, and working consistently in the 91-94 range. So it seems like he’s already pitching within the lower range of “mid-90s”, and thus profiles better than Hill in velocity’s regard, barring injury or unforeseen Allarding.

Touki without the insane control issues?

Or the fool poster on TC who claimed to be mid-90s with a 70 curve back when he was in high school in the 80s lol.

This is also the time the Anderson money saving pick rumors started swirling.

By now, Mayo and Callis usually have a pretty good read on how the draft is going to unfold.

And their updated mock just now still has Stewart as the pick.

Interestingly, both have Singer slipping and us passing in him. Believe it was Law who said we might be interested if he fell to our spot.

I’m a Florida fan, but I’d rather have Stewart.

Stewart would be a fine pick, i'm ok with a couple of the bats but depends who is there. If they did go P at 8, i'd hope they go hitter with the 2nd round pick since we have no 3rd.

Hopefully Mize goes #1 so Philly doesnt land him, Pivetta/Arrieta/Mize/Nola would be quite filthy.
