2018 Offseason And Targets

I believe Mish a lot more than Bowman, he broke the Ozuna/Yelich trades, and he's in tune with the Marlins. Bowman is a mouthpiece to the Braves.

Braves may not get JT, but Mish is a legit dude on this.

I don't particularly "believe" either one of them.

I do believe that at this point, AA has made the best offer - and that if it includes Riley that no Pitcher higher on the list than Wilson has been offered.

They want an overpay to move him within the Division, and Riley, Wilson, and any other pieces fits that. The same thing is likely true in any talks he's had about Peralta, Haniger, or anybody else.

"Here's my overpay - if you'll move him for that, send me the paperwork. If you beat it and don't call me back, I'll remember that. I'm just not bidding against myself - if you like my prospects better, you'll call back before pulling the trigger."

There are just too many options still available for him to go nuts, and he can afford to make a move for most of them if he chooses to - the Mac signing and the fact that Philadelphia moved on McCutchen so quickly have likely helped with that..

Mish isn’t backing down at all on this story so I’m gonna believe him over Bowman. Bowman has always done what he’s told.

Frisaro, another Marlins beat writer, is retweeting all of Bowman’s stuff. Frisaro is also a complete ass-hole and the worst beat writer for any team I’ve seen on Twitter and wrong more often than DOB.

AA has probably made an offer, Riley and whatever else. And Miami keeps looking for someone to top it, and they havent yet.

Thats pretty much where i'm at with it. Miami is trying to get someone to top the Braves offer and has not to this point.

If it's true they've offered Riley and whatever else.

It’s quite possible both guys are right. The Braves could have the best standing offer on the table, and are therefore the current favorites to land him. AA could have also said this is the final offer, and hasn’t talked to the Marlins in 5 days, and won’t unless they call him to accept.

At some point the Marlins risk holding out too long and will lose trade partners. I’m guessing they want Grandal to sign so they know exactly which teams make up the market for JTR.

If nobody has topped it to this point I doubt they will. If AA uses Riley in another deal it’ll suck for Miami if nobody else steps up their offer.

Grandal may be doing the same thing. Wait out Realmuto being traded and hope teams start fighting for him and raise his price.
