If we cut Duvall before ST we owe him nothing. If it's during ST it's like a prorated amount and if he breaks camp with the club then he gets it all.
 
Would JTR even be a significant upgrade over last year's catcher production? I thought someone ran the numbers and it was basically a wash.

I'm waiting on AA to do something brilliant to blow my mind. I just don't see a lot of pathways for doing that.

Bc nobody will want to trade for him let alone adding him with Teheran.

JTR put up 4.8 fWAR. suzuki and flowers combined for 3.2. so it’s a good bit more, and it’s just coming from 1 guy rather than 2. he would be a huge upgrade.

That doesn't include pitch framing. That said whether you look at BP or Stat Corner the overall effect between Suzuki/Flowers and JTR is about +.5 WAR for Suzuki/Flowers.

Also I believe that JTR would improve offensively by getting out of Miami.

I have to assume the Pederson discussions happened before they signed Markakis. It wouldn’t make a lot of sense to have 3 LHH requiring a platoon mate.

Something big has to be in the works though. There’s no other acceptable reason to settle for Markakis.

Mish: Nothing to update. Marlins still covet Braves prospects above all others. ATL waiting on Marlins to make an official proposal. When that happens, ATL must decide how far they will go. If not far enough, he goes elsewhere.

I'm sure they do but how far do they wanna go and does ATL being within division make them want more.
