#Braves interested in adding a closer, GM Alex Anthopoulos confirmed. Craig Kimbrel, a third-round pick of Atlanta in 2008, is among the available free agents. @MLB @MLBNetwork

I don’t think it’ll be Kimbrel, but I do think we could add a high leverage arm.

Haniger and Diaz sounds good to me!

This is a big deal for the Giants and quite a blow to the dodgers. Might see us make some familiarity trades with the Giants.

Bumgarner would make some sense if they make him available, but thats a big hire for the Giants.

If you like Bumgarner, you would really like Paxton. I doubt many see him outside the PNW. A couple years younger, a bit better control, a vicious cutter for RH hitters, a few more klicks on the four-seam. The dude is a horse. Only question is health, but it's never chronic nor arm/shoulder/elbow. And MB hasn't exactly been the picture of health the last couple years.

I don't think the Braves need to nibble around the edges; they need some difference-makers. If Anthopoulos wants to put a deal together that fills all his gaps right now, he could throw the farm at Dipoto for Haniger/Diaz/Paxton and be done and the Braves can start planning a parade. Won't have those super rotations at Mississippi and Gwinnett though.

Bowman has now tripled down on his line of “the Braves need to add an impact SP and have $60M to spend”.

Either he knows something, or he’s really digging his heels in on being wrong.

I hope for once he actually knows something although, like you, I'm not too excited about making a front line starter the first priority.

Id be looking at Gohara all through the winter seeing if he looks ready to join the rotation permanently. If he is, any "need" for a frontline starter likely is diminished. I'd sign Anibal, and move on.

Not saying I disagree with the general statement, but you definitely still attempt to trade for one if a guy like Kluber is truly available. Still, I highly doubt we do that!

He's the only SP I'd consider at a premium price but only if all the other areas are addressed adequately first... I still don't see much chance. I'd maybe do Bumcover for the right price but he will likely be more expensive than I'd want to pay and I think AA is smart enough to touch Corbin with a 60 foot poll... I hope...
