I know which I would have preferred.

To be fair, both Brantley and Grandal signed for significantly less than expected (especially Grandal). A better comparison would likely be Cutch and Ramos, imo. I guess you can argue AA should have waited out the market on Brantley and Grandal guys, but that's with the benefit of hindsight.

If we lose out on him then the offseason will look pretty bleak. A lot can go wrong with what we have in place right now. I know things can go right also but it’s not looking good imo.

I think the AAV for Brantley and Grandal was not surprising. The surprise was in the length of the deals.
