I think the Braves could trade Flowers elsewhere, lot of teams need catchers and he's pretty affordable.

My thoughts from day 1 of the Mac signing was that it was done to give Mac 1 last chance to play MLB and odds are he wouldn't make team out of ST giving him the chance to retire as a Brave. All this being with the trade happening for JTR. The difference in payroll would be less than a 4 mil increase for JTR.

I'm not going to sell Albies short. Steamer has Yelich at 4.8 WAR and Ozzie at 4.4 for 2019 for example. Strong up the middle defenders are WAR machines and Albies is that guy.

I agree with you, but to be fair Steamer has Ozzie at 3.3 in 2019. The FAN vote has Ozzie at 4.4.

Flowers makes 6 mil, JTR makes a little under 5.9 mil, JTR in, Flowers out, .1 gained in payroll.

jives with my numbers...Cot's lists opening day 2018 payroll at 118M, but i come up with 113M, including Kazmir

either way, i think we open 2019 with a payroll in the 120-125 range...and have budgeted for the whole season something in the 130-135 range

Guys with options include Raffy Lopez, the catcher we signed a few months ago, Carle, Biddle, Sobotka and all of the young starting pitching prospects. We should have plenty of flexibility to play the AAA shuttle game.

I think AA will eventually cash in on the prospects we're hoarding but he's waiting on the right time/player which is fine honestly.

Could be Realmuto, could be someone else next year/down the line. There's always surprise players that get made available no one sees coming.

At the deadline you have to cash in prospects. But I think he will try to follow the model used in the Gausman trade. Cash in multiple second-tier prospects while trying to hold on to the best ones.

We’re the reigning NL East champs, the young guys should continue to develop, and we added Josh Donaldson. While I doubt this is the last signing or trade we make, I think season ticket holders should be fine.

Decent chance Matt Chapman is made available if the A's take a step back in 2019. Certainly would be good to have the prospect capital to trade for him.
