All right, I'm bored.

So, here goes:

ATL trades Inciarte, Camargo and Allard to Cleveland for Kluber

ATL trades Anderson, Wentz and Jenista to the Dodgers for Pederson

ATL signs Adam Jones 1 YR $8M

ATL signs Matt Holliday 1 YR $2M

ATL signs Derek Dietrich 1 YR $3M

ATL trades Teheran plus $6M to Texas for C/1B Sam Huff

ATL cuts Duvall

Net payroll add about $18M

Gives you:

CF Acuna
RF Markakis/Jones
LF Pederson/Holliday
1B Freeman
2B Albies
SS Swanson
3B Donaldson
C McCann/Flowers

Bench: Jones, Holliday, Flowers, Culberson, Dietrich

Rotation: Kluber, Folty, Newk, Gausman, Toussaint

Pen: Viz, Minter, O'Day, Venters, Biddle, Winkler, Carle

No thanks.

#Padres officials meeting today or tomorrow with Bryce Harper in Las Vegas, sources tell The Athletic. Meeting expected to include ownership representatives.

Kimbrel 2.8 bWAR
Minter 0.8 bWAR

I don’t know how fangraphs and bref grade pitching differently, but their K/9 and WHIP aren’t even close.

Okay, I'm not trying to say Minter is a better pitcher here... the point being illustrated is that spending $15-20 million a year for Kimbrel would be insanely idiotic. Obviously Kimbrel is a better pitcher than Minter. The point is, they aren't as far apart as many think and this isn't the same Kimbrel we watched dominate for us. But if you're adding Kimbrel, you're spending a ton of money to maybe add what.... 1 win to your team? Not to mention, Kimbrel is starting to get up there in age and may or may not be declining while Minter just finished his rookie year, has a ton of upside, and could be the next Kimbrel for all we know. Spending a ton on the bullpen when we have O'Day coming back and a fine option at close would be a bit reckless when we can use that money to more substantially upgrade the team elsewhere, be it offense or rotation.

No, but I hope they do it anyway.

Padres don’t have the pitching to hang with the dodgers this year even with JTR and Harper or Machado...still probably 2 seasons away. However I could see them competing for a WC spot. The rest of the west is relatively weak while the central and east will have 3-4 teams each that will be very good, beating up on each other and probably keeping their records within striking distance of the Padres

That'd be a crazy good pick-up for them. I'd guess he goes to the Padres or Braves, likely Pads.

One guy reports the Rays are out of the running the other says they are in the top four still lol. I don't know what / who to believe anymore but if it comes down to us and the Padres we'd probably lose out on JTR to them with our luck!

Daily JTR talk.....

Jan. 31: Talks involving Realmuto have reached “advanced stages,” reports Frisaro, though he also reports that there are still four clubs alive in the bidding: the Padres, Reds, Dodgers and Braves.

Last night, MLB.com’s Jon Morosi tweeted that the Padres are currently a bigger player than the Dodgers in the Realmuto market, though with a quartet of suitors still in play, it stands to reason that the perceived “favorite” can change quickly. Frisaro notes that the Rays and Astros have all but dropped out of the bidding at this point.

Reds, Padres, Braves, Rays remain in running for Realmuto. Dodgers not out of it but not as engaged as frontrunning foursome.

I understand that, but I don’t agree that Minter was as good as Kimbrel last year.

I don’t see the Rays over paying either. It’s us or the Pads in my opinion. If they strike out on Bryce and Manny then it would be beyond dumb for them to trade for JTR.

For the love of God, SOMEBODY make them a concrete offer so they can come back to AA and ask him to up his so he can tell them to get lost already!!!

AA is pretty stubborn from what I’ve seen so far and that’s completely opposite of what he did in Toronto which is good for us to a certain extent. I think AA knows that nobody has beaten his offer yet and is gonna wait it out. The Marlins will cave on somebody’s offer sooner or later.
