2018 Offseason And Targets

Since Julio has consistently put up an ERA that is at least 0.50 lower than his FIP throughout his career, that means his ERA will be in the high 2s. About time he gets that Cy Young he so richly deserves.

Maybe I'm too bullish, but I expect a good season from Julio.

I'll take that bet. He's an innings eater, inconsistent but capable as a back end starter. They didn't trade him at an optimal time so until he's traded you're gonna have to embrace it or post "he's terrible" all season.

He's had his worst two seasons of his career in the last two seasons.

Last year he needed a ludicrously low .217 BABIP to crack positive WAR.

Spring training reports suggest he has had the same problem maintaining velocity start to start as he often exhibited last season.

If he's good that's swell. But I don't think he will be.

[TW]1110490949040394241[/TW] this looks new to me

It is new, and it is exciting.

I can't wait to see new statcast data on him after spending a year working with the Braves new analytics department. The addition of a SI and SL/FC could be a game changer for Fried with the 94+ velocity and that plus or better CU he already has.

Just saw where Wright said he was working on his cutter this offseason. Be nice if he can get that pitch working.

Per DOB, Craig is holding out for a 3 year deal. I’d be fine with 3 as long as it’s not like 20 per or something.

Kimbrel could have probably beaten the Wade Davis deal of 3/52 had he come into the off season with reasonable contract demands. Initially demanding 6/100+ was not reasonable, and his agent completely screwed the pooch.

3/50+, maybe with a 4th year option, probably gets Kimbrel.

Can the Braves afford ~$17M in 2019? Dumping Freeman and potentially dumping Duvall seem like moves made to accommodate it.

I'd do it tbh.

I would have to think we could afford such a deal, considering the FO has repeatedly stated we aren’t constrained at all, and especially considering that O’Day and his 9M (I think?) come off the books next season
