2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

I was just reading the AJC article about us trading FOR a starting pitcher. My guess is we are closer to trading AWAY a starter. Of course we'd give McCarthy to whoever wants to pay his check. But I wonder what offer it would take for AA to dump Teheran or Sanchez. It would be even funnier if the team making us an offer for them was one of our competitors for a playoff slot. Would AA be Brave enough to take an overpay from a team like that? Where they are basically overpaying to try to weaken us. I'd love to see if he gets some offers like that.

I have been and continue to be completely cold on Moose.

That’s probably fair package but I wouldn’t do it. I’m not sure I’d spend anything on 3b at this point.

I wouldn't spend anything on a starter. I would like to see us pick up a bench guy that could possibly platoon with Dansby/Camargo if needed, but I think Camargo has earned a shot to get most of the playing time. He is on track for a very good season.

The Braves have a scout at the Rangers' game tonight. Jake Diekman is a potential target. They also have a scout at the Rangers-Royals game. Nick Castellanos is another potential target.

Castellanos is interesting. Year of control left there. not much of a defender but could split time in LF/3B next year.

Crushes lefties.

I’m intrigued, but he makes Matt Kemp look like an elite defender. Just not sure where he fits without significantly declining the defense.

The LHP makes sense. The butcher in the OF does not. The Tigers are playing the Royals, so they could be scouting Mous or another pitcher.

I like Diekman, but surely they realize he is another lefty with reverse splits, right? And Snitker will clearly use him primarily against lefties.

Blaine Hardy would be a good pickup from the Tigers. Lefty that has pitched in the rotation and in the BP this year. Having a solid year.

That is a pretty recent development for him. In his career he has had relatively even splits and in 2017 he was much better vs. lefties.

Ideas from Eno Sarris on The Athletic -

The Braves send LHP Kyle Muller and C Alex Jackson to the Royals for 3b Mike Moustakas. (Feels like too much to give up)

The Braves send OF Christian Pache, LHP Luiz Gohara, and RHP Josh Graham to the Rays for RHP Chris Archer. (Feels like not enough to give up)

I'll bite on the Archer deal.

Pass on the Moose swap - way too expensive IMO.

Doesn't really have a ton to do with trades, but I decided to look up some team defense statistics, and we have been very good in that department. According to Fangraph's Def stat, the Braves have been the third best defensive team in baseball behind the Cubs and the Brewers.
