2019 MLB Draft Thread

Hand wringing over the arguably best defensive catcher...this is comical. That said...I wouldn't have picked him. Keep it going board. This is awesome.

Langeliers is good. Lot of people being too hard on him. I get that it isn’t the sexy upside we’ve grown accustomed to drafting, but he’s a good player. Also worth noting that the hamate injury is real and those usually aren’t completely healed until the following season.

Just have to hope this comes with freed up money to use in the next few rounds.

I agree. I was on this early as a good option.

The guy can play for us next year. He’s a better defensive catcher than we have now. He’s a good hitter. Hamate injury robs power. I think he can be a 750 ops with plus defense by 2021. That is very valuable.

I’ll love this pick if it’s underslot. I know you can’t do mlb contracts in the draft but maybe the braves made a deal here. Underslot now and if you perform you’ll be up in 2020.

he might turn into a good pick...just seems we violated the rule of going for ceiling at this point of the draft

I just don't see myself saying, "Boy, that Shea Langoliers fella sure was a good player."

I have to give the pick a big thumbs down.

I would have gone elsewhere too, but worst case he's an elite defensive catcher.

If the bat ever catches up to his defense, he's a perennial 4-5 WAR player.

My joke about Carroll aside, there might be something to the scuttlebutt that Atlanta was going to play it safe at 9.

i’ve watched zero of them and have no detailed data on them. anything for people for panic and whine about tho. welcome to the internet i guess.

I’m not a scout, or even that well-versed in the amateur ranks, but the fact the Braves went low-upside with this high of a pick is disappointing. He’s as old or older than a third of the Braves lineup right now—or four-ninths, if Soroka is pitching.

At least this is rational. I didn't want him....but I didn't hate him. Gotta hope we get an upside hs pitcher at 21. Malone? Espino? Don't see Carroll falling to us...is there a chance?
