2019 MLB Draft Thread

similar to the Langeliers pick in that he's a polished college player...we forsook upside with both picks...otoh neither was a reach...they both got drafted about where the mocks said they would go

Wasn’t Shewmake projected more end-of-first than early-twenties?

Anyways, I’m sure they saved some money by only scouting in the state of Texas.

Interestingly, Langaliers was drafted by the Jays in 2016 (34th round), when Dana Brown was still working in the org.

That kind of stuff happens more often than one would think. Scouts and scouting directors do fall in love with guys and often can't shake it.

I got nothing on this. I don’t see it. Maybe he can hit. He’s left handed. Maybe he grows into 6 “4. Maybe he doesn’t get out in his front foot and he hits for power.

I remember everyone hating soroka. I remember living allard.

So maybe this guy is good. I hate it now though

if nolan gorman were the pick last year we would’ve for sure heard whining from the usual suspects about how he projects to have major swing and moss issues.

Can we fire Brown please and bring back Bridges? We seriously spent the 9th and 21st picks on two hitters that don't project as above average bats. Shea is all defense with limited offensive profile. Shewmake is full of intangibles but has little to no pop and only stole 6 bases this year. Definitely sounds like guys you should be pick in the first. Smh. What a disaster of a draft.

Braves main question when sitting down with prospects isn’t what their goals are, and how they can help their franchise, it’s how much below slot will you really take?
