2019 MLB Draft Thread

I thought Espino would have balanced out the high risk with high floor ....
Exactly. It was set up nicely. I just don't get not signing kimbrel and crying about pool money unless you know you can get high upside now in round 2? I need Brian Bridges...lol.

I hope the Braves see something more than Shewmake's frame in thinking he'll develop power. He's 6-4 and skinny as a rail so you think he should add bulk and thus power. But that swing makes me think he's never going to tap into any power he might add. Looks like a slap hitter who sacrifices driving the ball for bat control.

Malone would’ve been ideal at 21.

After the Lango pick I expected a risky arm at 21. Fine, his floor is a backup catcher, and his ceiling is an average-ish bat with Grandal type defense.

I can’t folkow the logic of the Shew pick no matter how open minded in try to be.

Yeah...this just isn't the best maximization of assets IMHO. Braves don't care..just thought if you go Shea...you swing for the fence. The Braves bunted..

Hopefully Gabe from the AJC can dig up a good explanation from the FO (I’m assuming it’s got to be trackman metrics related).

Watching the interviews with Dana Brown. Guy looks like a deer in the headlights. Honestly sounded like an idiot trying to explain why they like Shewmake. It was like a salesman saying I should buy a car because it's a great shade of blue.

Yeah, it was like he was just making crap up.

Exactly my impressions. Dude seemed clueless and grasping for straws.

I take it back that Dana Brown sounded like an idiot. Trying to explain Shewmake he honestly looked and sounded like a guy who is having his worst nightmare come to life. It was like all that was going through his mind was "AA is gonna be so mad".

Watching that again makes me wonder if our draft strategy got nuked somehow and we panicked and picked Shewmake.

Lol. What's your fantastic scouting report? I do agree however that judging him on hitting Mize...seems like a silver lining but there is that...

I’ve been watching the sec tournament for 30 years. Going 2/6 against Casey Mize is a dumbass reason to tout someone.

If we somehow pull a miracle off at 60 we can redeem this class.

The only way I see that happening is by getting Shea and Braden underslot so we could float a guy like Allan down to 60. Or maybe a guy with signability issues like Hampton or Ealy. The ONLY logic that I see with this strategy is if we get a really good player at 60.
