2019 MLB Draft Thread

Very peculiar draft so far. Really curious to see what these guys signed for. Can’t imagine we don’t use up our draft pool, so there must be some sort of gambit for the next couple days in place on tough sign prep guys.

Not so divergent on their ranking of this particular player.

Brown’s media presence hasn’t exactly gone off without a hitch tonight either

Brown could do with some media training...but I find his takes on the players he drafted refreshing

That’s cool but taking a second round talent in the second round would also have been a way to go.

Not saying this is the case here (or it's only the Braves that do it), but after the new draft rules pertaining to bonus slots and overall bonus pools was instituted, I'm always a bit surprised why so many teams just don't go "through the front door" instead of overthinking things and moving around money. You're likely going to have to throw a couple of picks away in the top ten to give yourself some room, but it just seems like a lot of work to end up in the same place with the added detriment that a lot of top-tier guys will go off the board the longer you wait to go overslot.

As to the tamu guy, doesn’t look like he’s made much progress in weight room over three years and the stat lines I saw show no real improvement with the bat over his three seasons. Probably related.

Lol

I could defend the Lango pick pretty easily.

I can't defend picking a utility guy at 21...

I don't even know what to say about the pick at 60, but that guy was probably not going to amount to much anyways.

I also can't fathom why the Braves were so reluctant to lose the 60th pick if this draft was the result.

So the Braves just confirmed that they used the 21st pick to get a guy who profiles as a defensive sub/utility infielder. Holy **** I am extremely pissed. How can this happen. are we that poor?

That’s exactly what I was thinking. This is the bench depth draft.

This will be the last year we have high picks also.

Sickening.

So you guys wouldn't draft Ben Zobrist with the 21st pick? Interesting...

Wait...

Is this stating the guy directing the Braves draft didn't even know the athletic background of the guy they used the 9th pick to get?

Am I being punked? What in the world is going on...?

At this point, I really just want to take Samson Abernathy. Just so we can have that meme.

I'd say our drafted shortstop profiles as more of a Pat Borders. Maybe a Todd Zeile? Why the hell is the comp a random old catcher?

After my extensive viewing of the film, in my expert opinion, I see him as more of a Craig Ehlo. Maybe a Steve Beuerlein. Best case outcome is Vinny Damphousse or Silver Charm, maybe Terry Labonte. Kim Zmeskal or Shannon Miller probably a stretch.
