2020 Field

The candidate that seemed to exude the most animal magnetism upon his fanbase was Bernie. The world is changing.

I agree. I think Bernie actually believed in what he was saying (right or wrong) more than any of the others. I honestly think he could have won in 2016. Too much water under bridge since then.

Has anyone ever won the Presidency, after losing the primary process in the previous or past primary?

Only one I can think of is Nixon losing to JFK then going again and winning.

McCain and Romney both won the nomination after failed attempts previously. Neither won the Presidency.

Reagan actual got more votes in the 1968 Republican primary than Nixon, though Nixon won the delegate count 684-155

EDIT: If you are counting losers who became Vice Presidents, that list obvious gets longer. LBJ, Coolidge, GHWB....

I knew about Vernon Jones; he was DeKalb CEO when I was in high school there. I thought he went to jail for corruption, but I guess not?

Kind of a weird move on his part. I guess he doesn't want to be re-elected; the parts of DeKalb he represents had some of most extreme anti-Trump voting in 2016.

He resigned his seat earlier today

Wow what a crock of ****. Me thinks that wasnt the only ambitious goal Bin Laden had. If the goal was the thrust America into crisis then assassinating the President is a good way to do it no matter who is VP. Even in a case where the VP is already the shadow President like Cheney just the optics of the President being assassinated by a terrorist group would **** all kinds of **** up.
