Thing is, these kinds of social safety net programs are pretty much accepted as best practices around the world. Lots of other countries actually have a much more robust safety net. And they have higher taxes to pay for them. It seems pretty obvious to me this is the direction we are headed.

each president has.embraced socialism in some way, as well as corporatism. Many rejections of capitalism... capitalism is a distant past in our country.
