2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Going to be a TON of disappointed folks around here come tomorrow afternoon - AA's not going to be in on any big names at all.

Anderson/Pache/Waters/Contreras are going nowhere, and Wright, Touki, Wilson, and Newk have lost their shine - they're not valued as particularly good returns for anyone that's not rebuilding. The teams with TOR arms to shop aren't interested in them because they're going to get bigger names.

no one really thinks it’s going to happen. We’re just being fans. Knock off ya damn wet blanket

LOL i'm fine playing it safe this year. Dont see anyone beating LAD in the NL this year.

I'm ok just getting inning eaters and hoping Hamels comes back.

Heyman: There’s an increasing belief among teams Mike Clevinger has a good chance to be dealt. Indians have 6 very good or better starters, all on cost-efficient deals. Price is appropriately high. Braves, Padres, Yankees, Dodgers among many who’ve been in contact

I would CUM if we got Clevinger. Omg,

The Indians are going to be looking for major league ready batters to help this year and beyond. We don't have that to offer. Sort of like when they acquired Franmil Reyes last year.

You either trade for someone like Clevenger or take a lesser fill in then sign a high dollar FA this coming winter. That is if you are convinced that there will be normal, revenue generating baseball next season. The idea that all of Anderson, Pache, Waters and others are going nowhere is not founded in fact IMO. Acuna is going nowhere, Ender is untradeable and too costly to release, Riley is viable (contrary to some here) at 3rd or LF next year, and if nothing else corner OFers are pretty easy to find.

A ML rotation is really only thing this team needs near term.

Musgrove or Minor probably about the best we can hope for.

Someone a player like Jenista, Wilson type players can get.

Clevenger, Soroka, Fried, Anderson would be pretty awesome tho...

Sidetracted by wife. Having said the above, I really doubt that a big trade happens now with the questions regarding money this year and doubt about baseball next year, pending CBA and all other revenue questions that really only apply to Atlanta.

Sources confirm: White Sox talking to Indians about Clevinger, as
@BNightengale
said. Other teams also in mix. CLE needs power-hitting OFer, but also could move Clevinger for controllable pitching and make separate deal for offense. Clevinger two more years of control after ‘20.

If this happens, the White Sox are about to become a damn powerhouse.

Braves would have to send the Indians young arms that they then flip for the OFer they need.

Would be interesting to see if Wright. Touki, and Wilson would net the Indians someone like Gallo and Trevino - if it did, the Indians would suddenly be "in business".

The Rangers could then look for position players in return for Lynn and Minor (if he happened to bring them anything). Since they're talking to the Dodgers about Lynn, getting something like Ruiz, Michael Busch, and a throw-in or two would help the Rangers fill a lot of holes fast. Wright/Touki/Wilson/Ruiz/Busch would be quite a haul of "almost ready" kids that are under control for quite a while.

Arizona is selling. Marte and Peralta are options.

I’m not sure what the cost would be. Peralta is a long time favorite of mine. Owed 15/2 after this year. In his mid 30s.

But a left handed bat who can hit. Maybe you can get him on the cheap. Move Adams back to lh starter only role and commit to acuna in cf for the year.

After this year Peralta could be a dh option or a guy that allows you to hold waters and or pache down for another control year.

The Padres are heavy into a big-name starter right now. If I knew who, I’d say.
But I’m assured by a couple people they are working on something big.
Also have at least one more lesser deal in works.

Sounds like Clevinger to Padres, but not confirmed by a big name yet.

Nightengale: Several rival teams who were involved in the Mike Clevinger trade talks believe that he's headed to the #Padres, confirming report by @theaceofspaeder
