2022 Trade Deadline

I’ve had this thought as well. They consistently rated above the Braves during the rebuild, and the Braves farm has simply performed a lot better in the timespan.

Most of what they've traded has bombed and not a whole lot that they've kept has done well.

Preller's has an uncanny knack of picking up names though. Draft, international, trade, free agency - always it looks good on paper.

He must read the hell out of of fangraphs and baseball America.

Assuming the return for Montas/Trivino was Peraza (their second best SS prospect and a high end FV 50) plus a typical As poo-poo platter of non-impact MLB contributors, I think the Yankees did very well.

Waldichuk was Yankees’ No 5 prospect, per
@MLBPipeline
. Medina was No. 10, Sears No. 20, Bowman No. 21. Bowman is a second baseman. Others are pitchers.

Not a bad haul for Montas. Yankees keeping Peraza is a win.

I was hoping the Braves would be in on Mancini, but I imagine not enough top prospects

I doubt Mancini cost much. It was probably more about the Braves already having Ozuna at DH with Contreras able to step in as well.

The Braves need OF help, not another 1B/DH.

According to FG:

Ken Waldichuk 50
Luis Medina 50
JP Sears 40
Cooper Bowman NA

That's a pretty even trade I'd say. I think both teams did well here. A pretty good win/win imo.

The Brewers are leading their division and are trading their closer? Hader has been bad lately and the Brewers must suspect something is up with him to trade him now.

BP arms are replaceable and he's up for FA soon, it's a smart move tbh.

Rogers is a FA this year.
Lamet is meh.

The prospects are probably fine. Idk. But it’s hard not to think Stearns sold very low on Hader. Last winter he’s definitely getting a much better return.

Yeah he probably waited a year too long.

Passan- The Houston Astros are finalizing a deal to acquire catcher Christian Vázquez from the Boston Red Sox, sources tell ESPN.

The Red Sox are playing in Houston tonight, so Vázquez presumably will just walk around the stadium to join his new teammates. And the Sox's sale begins.

Tommy Pham traded per Ken, team not yet known to where he's dealt.
