2022 Trade Deadline

What’s the chance he gets to play this year?

Maybe by September i last saw but i think Boras would probably want him on the market next year, the outfield market is rather blah. So he'd get a nice deal i think.

Think the Rockies are dumb enough to send the Braves Kris Bryant and $90m this off-season, now that he's injured again (with plantar fasciitis, which can be chronic) and they look even dumber than they already did? That would leave him on a six-year, $66m deal to play LF, and occasionally on the infield—though honestly the length of those terms is still even a bit scary.

Morosi: In Juan Soto trade talks, #STLCards haven’t been willing to include Dylan Carlson *and* their top prospects in the same offer — at least, thus far. Negotiations are reaching a critical point.

It's Padres or Dodgers if he's dealt.

If you are that far down the path, I can’t imagine a world where Carlson is a deal breaker (and I like him).

Since the Nats seem to really want major league pieces, Cardinals are the best fit to complete a Soto deal. Air, Goldy and Soto is going to be a dangerous middle of the order.

Dodgers and Padres have the most to offer if they offer what you think they would. But not sure what the Nats actually want in return (either mostly prospects) or some MLB pieces too.

Both is what it sounds like to me… they sure don’t wanna lose a good teammate and buddy … to be replaced with a fuggin’ ahole dbag

I didn’t underhand how Pham could be that bad of a clubhouse guy until I saw he’s lagged for 5 teams in 7 seasons. Figured he’d be a mainstay in St Louis especially after his 2017 season.

I don’t see how you can watch what the Braves did last year and then go full sell when you’re as close to a playoff spot as the Giants are.

I just don't think they're that good of a team. A lot of their key players were old, and are now another year older, and several are injured/out. In their division, I think it makes more sense to punt 2022, target near-MLB young players in sell-off trades, then spend a bit more aggressively this off-season to reload.

It is a little strange. But we also didn't have the Dodgers and Padres go up against last year. We were 6 games out of 1st before the Mets series in late July. The Mets had a chance to bury us, and put us around 8-11 games back going into the deadline. Instead we took 3 of 5 and went into the deadline like 4 games back of the division.

Giants are 17 games out of 1st and 5.5 back of the 2nd WC.
