2023 Misc Braves Talk

If he had given up any kind of prospect for a pitcher who has **** the bed since the deadline you'd 100% be whining about that.

Probably. It does make me wonder how one of those guys pitch in Atlanta. Would Gio be as bad. Would he benefit from kranny.

But honestly I am of a fan of any of our prospects that would have been traded. AJSS, Shuster, Dodd, and Grissom need to be traded imo.

Bowman: The Braves have Morton and TBA listed for tomorrow's doubleheader. Strider is sick, so he's pushed back to Wednesday. They are out of arms, so Kyle Wright could end up starting a game tomorrow.

Is there anyone softer than Super when someone criticizes anything about the Braves?

Maybe you when you throw a temper tantrum like in the playoffs?

bravesfanMatt will complain no matter what. If AA had given up a single asset for someone like Giolito, he’d absolutely be complaining about that. I’m sorry that pointing that out bothers you :/

I'm actually with Super here. I dont think any of the non Scherzer/Verlander SP's dealt would have moved the needle. I guess maybe Monty but is he better than Elder or Morton?

We were told Lorenzen would be an upgrade over Morton based on a singular season’s xwOBA. How’s that looking? Elder has been better than him too. Interesting that is controversial to be happy that no assets were given up for a middling pitcher

I'm just pointing out the fact that anyone who is the least bit critical of the Braves or AA... he tries to ride in on his white horse.

Personally, I think in the case of Murphy and this starting pitcher discussion he makes a strong case. You’re allowed to disagree but attacking him by calling him a white knight is pretty lame.

Snit starting Morton and hoping he goes at least 7. Probably will ride Morton to 110 pitches to save bullpen for the evening.

I think he's right on the SP discussion. None of the non Scherzer/JV pitchers do anything. The catcher thing, i'm just hoping it's to rest him for the playoffs and given the division is all but locked up. If not, we got a big problem on our hands.

So we have to endure 3 quad A pitchers in 4 games over 3 days. Yeah, I know the guys who were traded have been dog pile of crap, but anyone watching these 3 days has to question AA not grabbing a pitcher at the deadline.. thank god the lead is way too large for it to impact the Braves.

Don't question it all to be honest.

100 percent the right move, and Wright is on the mend. None of the pitchers that got traded would have moved the needle, you're crying about a 5th starter where we have like 5-6 of them to juggle back and forth. If you said a better bullpen guy, sure but not sure who was moved that we had the prospect capital for?

I also agree with not getting a SP... I just think it's lame that he goes out of his way to call anyone out who criticizes the team. I don't see how anyone can defend the Murphy usage... he's obviously a much better player when he's playing regularly and struggles when he's not getting regular at bats. Did we really sign a platoon catcher to a 6 year extension? Not to mention we traded significant capital to acquire him.

I buy that playing more regularly might keep sharper, but I think that argument cuts both ways. Murphy’s having a career year with a reduced workload. Which one is it?

The six year extension is exactly the reason I support playing TDA as much as possible while he is around and still effective. Every game we save on Murphy is less wear and tear on his body which might prolong his effectiveness.

With that said, let me echo the point I think everyone agrees with. Murphy should be playing every game in the playoffs.

Lorenzen was had for a bag of balls. And it is not if he was better than mort or elder. Is he better than Shuster or Dodd. The fact the Braves are running out of arms and rushing wright up tells me that the Braves should have seen that Shusterand Dodd were not mlb pitchers and gotten a scrap heap type to pitch. They don’t need a playoff ace. Just some guys to finish out the season.

It really isn’t a big deal and not something to bring the pitch forks out. But yeah I think I was wrong too when I said at the deadline that the Braves don’t really need pitching.

The player Philly traded away is 8th in Detroit's system right now. A bag of balls is a stretch.
