As an aside, I’ve continued to see the right do a good job politically of using the wording of attacks by Dems against them. The obvious connotation of deep anti-Semitism when referring to Hitler or Nazis is inescapable, but the real question on Trump’s words is whether or not he is an authoritarian, not a literal Nazi. By keeping the conversation focused on what actual Nazis did instead of what authoritarians do, Trump and his surrogates have managed to take a plausible attack on him and flip it on its head.
It also doesn't stick bc the people accusing him of being authoritarianism are authoritarianism themselves
I don't think there's a world where Trump is more authoritarian than the current regime.
