2024 Field

Thank God for Ga and Florida leadership.

I know thethe is gonna scoff at that but it mattered to real citizens in real time trying to make a real living.

It was action in government directly helping its constituents. It created a HELLUVA lot of good will. They are both popular for these stances and actions. If only the schools would have been in session or forced to extend the school year.

We all would have drank ourselves silly if not for the restart of normalcy.

Thankfully Trump respected the constitution (lauded at the time) and left it to the states to make their ultimate decisions and didn't become what Biden was in 2021 and afterwards.

The country needed big states to stand up to the madness and Florida and Georgia delivered. That paved the way for others.

There's a reason why half the country moved to Florida since 2020.

There's a reason why these two cruised to massive election victories while the rest of MAGA candidates failed

Other than sending in the ****ing military to enforce it... he did everything he possible could do to ensure states shut down... and then he bragged about it constantly afterward

He may have respected it, but he did weigh in publicly on what they were doing as incorrect putting pressure on them to fall in line.

Never forget. #respectthescience

Yes - He expressed his belief at that time that it was better to be cautious (the wrong instinct) but he did empower the states to do what they wanted to do.

When you say "empower" , you mean just sat back and didn't over step his office? For clarity sake.

I ask again, other than sending in the national military to enforce it... what else could he have done that's not considered "empowering the states"

He made very clear it was his call to shut it down. Bragged about it many many times. And viscously attacked Republican governors for disobeying

those republican governors won their elections in a landslide, by the way

Correct - Respect the constitution. I can see how you would take umbridge with a poor word choice.

I am not sure how he should get any praise for "not becoming what Biden was in 2021" at all. We can remove that checkmark from his "accomplishments". Agree?

So, with hindsight as it is and what you noted on Rona at the time we can safely deduce that Trump was no friend of states opening before lord Fauci said they should. Ga\Fl opened and showed the others the way. Earning the trust and reelection votes they deserved as due reward.

As I see it- and you pointed out- him not overstepping his power is just like me sitting on my couch while the neighbors argue in their house next door. Hardly anything to appreciate.

The two govs in question were ridiculed and pressured in public for it, and came out better for going against Trump on this and getting it right. Since that point, he has never learned from that and still parrots the same narrative.

Learning is a skill.

I think Trump getting the word out on HCQ and other therapeutics early on was a big positive. Wouldn't you agree?

I think him STARTING the narrative on fully opening up as he did with his Easter proclamation was important as well.

Sadly, once the cat was out of the bag the big leftists states were always going to stay closed.

And finally, for someone who believes the vaccines were useful for at-risk him helping drive that charge was also helpful as well.

Everyone is Monday morning QBing when at the time people had to make decisions with information they had AT THE TIME.

Its the same reason that RDS should not be lambasted for pushing the vax to everyone or that he actually did lockdown areas early on. Don't believe be I can send you multiple articles.

The overarching premise is that the CCP virus was a weapon used to defeat how Trump was changing the world and you guys are slamming him for that which is your right. The majority of the Republican party - and the new coaltion of republican voters - aren't buying what you're selling. Iowa will show that LOUDLY.

Correct - Which is why her GE polling numbers are irrelevant (someone that would understand these things always saw that). Just like hte idea of 'Generic Republican' is the most laughable concept anyone can bring it as a gotcha.

.

AT THE TIME, Trump blasted RDS and Kemp for opening. AT THE TIME, Trump bragged wanted schools remain closed in the Fall. AT THE TIME, Trump bragged Fauci's support of his obedience during the election.

And in 2024, he says they did it right

There is no monday morning QB here... he still thinks he was right 3 years later

They all want to jump on board now that writing is on the wall.

Didn't anyone tell them polls don't vote?

ah crap! I have all these principled and logical reasons to support RDS, but now that a random person I've never heard of endorsed the cult leader, I have t change how I think!
