2024 Field

Biden won by narrowly pulling 2-3 states that are traditional Red states. Those states are now trending Red based on recent polls and Trump is still neck and neck in almost every poll. Top that off with the fact that his approval rating remains really poor.

Wisconsin--hard to say if it is trending blue or red. Both sides held serve narrowly in 2022, with the Democratic governor being re-elected at the same time the Republican senator was being re-elected. More recently the blowout State Supreme Court election illustrates the potency of the abortion issue for the Democrats, even in purple and red states.

Arizona--the Kari Lake factor holds sway and has cost the Republicans in all sorts of ways. Don't see that dysfunction going away anytime soon.

Georgia--Warnock needed a runoff but prevailed in the end. Probably the GOP's best chance for a flip. But they need more than Georgia.

PA--Dems won open senate and governor races handily, helped by some poor GOP candidates. Don't see this one flipping.

NV--maybe trending red. The GOP was able to defeat an incumbent Democrat governor. The secret formula seems to be to nominate a normie Republican as opposed to someone like Kari Lake. Will the national party take note?

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said that claims about the 2020 election being stolen were false, directly contradicting a central argument of former President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.

The comments went further than Mr. DeSantis typically goes when asked about Mr. Trump’s defeat. The governor has often tried to hedge, refusing to acknowledge that the election was fairly conducted. In his response on Friday, Mr. DeSantis did not mention Mr. Trump by name — saying merely that such theories were “unsubstantiated.” But the implication was clear.

“All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true,” Mr. DeSantis said in response to a reporter’s question after a campaign event at a brewery in Northeast Iowa.

The more aggressive response comes a day after Mr. Trump was arraigned on charges related to his plot to overturn the 2020 election. As he has courted Mr. Trump’s voters, Mr. DeSantis has blasted the prosecution as politically motivated and has said that he did not want to see Mr. Trump charged. His new comments suggest that Mr. Trump’s legal peril may have altered his political calculation.

Sorry I don't believe that. I think the only Candidates that appeal to enough voters are Trump and RDS. May be Ramaswamy, but I honestly don't think the old, white conservatives would vote for someone whose religion is Hindu.

Don’t sleep on Youngkin. If he could deliver Virginia, that would change the game.

Not that they would ever run together but a Youngkin, Kemp ticket would do pretty good. They’d deliver two big states that Trump couldn’t and won’t in 2024

Polls are worthless especially this far out in the election. Trumps the best campaigner for Democrats. Each new vote he brings in brings in 2 for the Dems. He lost in 2020 and since then he has taken full credit for the BS with abortion. Thats going to go over real well with voters. Odds are if you are against abortion you were already voting Trump. Theres plenty of pro-abortion people who didnt or dont normally vote. Trumps going to be a convicted felon times 100 by the time of the election if not in prison. He wont even be able to vote for himself.

Nearly half of Republican voters now say they won’t vote for

Trump in the general election if he’s been convicted of felony.

This would translate to Biden winning reelection in a massive historic landslide.

If Republican primary voters want to stupidly nominate Trump, let them.

the writer seems to be ignoring Ron Desantis and his what 18%, and falling ?
He of threatening to "slit the throats" of American citizens

If somehow all elderly voters vote Republican (nonsense), then there will a new group of elderly voters since 2016 for republicans.

Democrat base is now all angry single woman and young people they don’t know the basics. As you said the demographics change over time as people age and the biggest shift is one that should terrify democrats. Values and preferences of Hispanics and black men. Once that wall breaks democrats no longer have a viable base to win national elections.

Also important to note the changes in young people affiliations. It’s not anywhere close to majority conservative but the rates are increasing from previous norms.

Large faction of desantis campaign never cared about desantis winning.

When all you do is prosecute bull**** and scare people away these things happen. Fortunately there are enough patriots to take over when we win in 24 and close the deal.

If I have learned nothing from my study of history its beware the people who constantly call each other patriots endlessly. Its almost always a way to manipulate easily influenced people like little thethe. They have to hammer home to these people that "we are the good guys" so when the time comes for overthrowing an election through illegal means and seizing power they will believe it is justified.

Part of good judgement is to know the people that know whats going on.

Glad to see DeSantis and others are finally no longer tap dancing around this.

"Ron DeSantis should really stop being Joe Biden’s biggest cheerleader," Trump spokesman Steve Cheung told NBC News.

This what we have come to--the simple acknowledgment of reality is redefined as a betrayal.

After 3 years of this administration I'm no longer interested in the kind of winning that the Trump cult is delivering
