It's been remarkable watching him grow. I mean, I don't think he had much starting experience at all but he's just naturally learning to use his arsenal and it's fun watching him adjust in real time.

From what I have read his velocity improved a tic this year. He seems like a pitcher who gets a lot of late movement on his pitches. He has been elite at getting hitters to swing at pitches outside the strike zone. We have seen pitchers be fluky good because hitters can be too aggressive but normally that kind of pitcher also walks a lot of hitters. Which is why I don't think it's a fluke for SS. He still hangs some breaking balls and his 4 seam fastball gets hammered so there plenty of room for improvement. I think his potential is off the charts.
 
I think AJSS will be a big piece for our rotation. Everybody develops at different rates so i’m not bothered by him or anybody else taking some extra time. AA has done a very good job of getting us pitching from the draft and he’s getting high profile hitters from the international front.

AJ is like 21 or 22... he has plenty of time to hone the skills. Raw stuff is pretty good, just have to wait him out to see if he is Newk or Strider or somewhere in between.
