2024 Minor League Thread

He wouldn’t be the first guy to stumble in his first try at MLB, only to become much more successful in a future callup.

I’d venture to say the majority of players suck the first time they are in the MLB… the Soto’s (even though he was already 27) and Acuña’s of the world are not the norm.

Unless his EV has somehow magically improved, he's still the same nothing burger...the fact he plays for the Braves doesn't suddenly mean he doesn't have to hit the ball hard as a non SS/CF/C.

Hackenberg promoted to AAA.

This one is strange since we have a logjam of starters at AAA already.

They can piggyback starters if they need to. If Hackenberg can maintain his velocity gains he might be a very under rated prospect. Will be interesting to see how hard he is throwing to start next year.

I follow college baseball in the state of Florida really closely, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the Miami staff is criminally bad at pitching development. Hernandez is really interesting to me. Alejandro Rosario is a similar case - big time recruit, horrendous numbers at Miami and now a top 100 prospect and Baseball America called him one of the breakout pitching prospects this season: https://x.com/BaseballAmerica/status/1829312440816796021.

I'm not saying Hernandez is going to be a top 100 guy or anything, but there's plenty more upside here that we can get out of him mostly because the Miami coaching staff is an embarrassment.

I respect that CJ.. but my issue wasn't just his numbers but also a 5'10 pitcher is already starting at a disadvantage, along with that only one ranking had him in the top 500 I think. There were a lot of warts on that frog, and I felt they could have gotten him in later rounds if they really liked him. I don't think there were many teams looking at him imo. obviously I don't know, but I am assuming.
