2025-2026 offseason thread

Alonso contract is tough but the Schwarber contract is worse. Schwarber came off a career year and the Phils paid for it. He’s not likely to be that good again

the only thing I need to know about pete is, if an infield pop up where to hit him in the forehead, would it bounce off or just roll down his face.. the science is still out on it I think.

It's like the Orioles learned nothing from Chris Davis.
Alonso has a much better track record than Davis. And he doesn't strike out 30% of the time.

Chris Davis profiles is closer to Kyle Schwarber. I think the Phillies could regret this contract as soon as this year. I could easily see Schwarber go back to being a low .800 OPS hitter that leads the league in Ks.

I just did a quick photoshop of Alonso in an Orioles uniform:

I think he'll be fine there. Alonso can hit, just a little questionable defensively.

The Mets will no doubt throw the bank at Bellinger and Tucker. They traded nimmo for a 2b and now don't have a 1b
I'd imagine Vientos or McNeil move to 1B. Probably looking at McNeil at 1B, Semien at 2B, Lindor at short, and Vientos at 3rd.

We didn't lose Burkhalter or anyone else in the major league portion of the Rule 5 draft.
We drafted soon-to-be 27-year-old C Archer Brookman from the Blue Jays in the minor league phase.

I not surprised either way regarding Burkhalter. He's still working back from his arm surgery and teams most likely wanted to see more than 31 IP at AAA. Still and all, he's probably a better bet than the crap the Braves have picked up on waivers the last month.

I really want to see BB to get some reps in the Brave's BP this year. I get stretching him out and seeing if he can be a starter again (never was a starter imo).. I just think that at some point you have to pull the plug of some of these guys and just let them be a reliver first and then transition back into starting when you develop some success in the bigs. I think BB could make a lot of money if he just said I want to focus on being a legit BP weapon.

We have quite a few arms that will need this move likely after the first two months this year.
