2025-2026 offseason thread

He has a mutual option at 10 million for 26 so I don't know if the Phillies will pick it up. They have a lot more places they need to spend on C, SP, and trying to resign Schwarber. Bader won't be high on their list and he'll probably want some security with multiple years.
There’s no way he agrees to 1/$10 and the Phillies would be thrilled if he did that. He’ll get more than 2/$14 pretty easily I’d think.

From a yahoo article :

If Bader wants to come back, Grazel predicts that "The contract could be for two years and $20 million, including up to $2.5 million in bonuses, and a player option after the two seasons."

From Philly to resign him

Philly probably resigns him and I am fine with that. He is not a starting caliber player. Career .698 OPS coming into this season. I hope Philly overpays him.

Career 112 ops+, .762 ops vs lhp.

I prefer going after Tucker, but I doubt that happens. Bader as a platoon for Harris if he doesn't rebound and a solid defender to get profar and Acuna at DH seems like a decent option

Guys that mash LHP and are horrible vs RHP aren't super valuable roster pieces because LHPs only make up around 25% of all pitchers in baseball. That means that hitter is really only playable 25% of the time. And a career OPS of .762 is not exactly what I would call mashing LHP.

Bader would be fine if the plan was to platoon him and Harris AND if Bader came relatively cheap (say 2/20). But I doubt we have plans to platoon Harris and I doubt Bader is very cheap.

They better have a backup plan for Harris. He's gonna keep swinging his way on out of baseball

Will the Chi-Sox pick up the option on Luis Robert? I feel like they will since they have no one else to play CF anyways and it's only 20 million.

I think other teams would have more interest than us if he became a FA though.

Bellinger would be my top option among the players we would realistically pursue in FA. Zero chance we throw 200-300 million (or more) at Tucker.

Lots of potential trade pieces we could look at too. Someone like Taylor Ward would be a good option that shouldn't cost too much. Maybe Steven Kwan. Lars Nootbaar is another. Yes I know Kwan and Lars are LH. They are just decent OF options in general so that Acuna and Profar can DH more often.
