2025-2026 offseason thread

He essentially said it in his Winter Meetings that they aren't looking for just an innings eater with some upside. It's essentially a high end play or nothing
Yeah, between Waldrep and the guys after him, dont know if getting someone similar is a smart use of resources. But the rest of the pitching market has QO's attached to them. So i dunno.

We won't go after Buxton now but Joe Ryan would be a big get. Kim and Ryan would be a big end to the offseason.

MLB radio says we don't have a problem with losing the pick bc we are interested in Framber and Michael King on the FA front and Peralta on the trade front. Looks like they are aiming super high and may have a lot more money to spend.

If we are going to let the 26th pick really stand in the way of a free agent established player who can make an impact, we are not serious about contending for a championship. That simple.

D-backs, RHP Merrill Kelly agree to 2-year deal.

Seems reasonable for a low end #3 in his late 30s.

I 100% disagree that AA should be shooting for a high end SP or nothing. Anyone with the opinion this rotation doesn’t need reliable innings is completely delusional, and learned nothing the last couple seasons.

Framber is just so durable and legitimate high-end guy. Easily the best available pitcher with King's health issues.

That said, he's going to cost like $180M or so, I'm guessing. I think you can get King on a much more reasonable deal for two or three less years. The only way I see Alex giving up the pic is if the contract is perfect for our window, so King fits that.

Absolutely agree.

Yes it would be unacceptable to create another situation where Elder is leading the team in starts and innings.

Either the Braves are going to have to grow up and play in the big leagues or not. Spend the money or spend the prospects. At the very least, we need a durable No. 3 starter. It's foolish to rely on Sale and Strider being healthy come October.

Given his comments at the Winter Meetings, I think Alex knows that and is going to try really hard to land someone of that caliber. The offense has been a wreck the last few years, outside of 2023, but you could argue the bigger problem is going into the playoffs with ass starters due to injuries.

I don't think he will tbh. I did at first but the Diaz stuff was real so I suspect he won't have a problem letting it go for one of the top SP. if he sees and he probably already has that he's gonna have to trade to much for a top SP and he wants somebody good enough to start a playoff game then Valdez and King are probably the only 2 and King has a lot of questions. Our best play would be to trade for Peralta from Milwaukee and sign back Kim.
