2025-2026 offseason thread

I didn’t say the season was a fail. But going into the season on hopes and dreams seems like lack of a plain 3 starters finished the season with significant injuries. Not to address the rotation is a fail no matter how the season shakes out.
I don't think going into the season and seeing what we have is necessarily a bad plan. We can always make a trade to reenforce the pitching staff at the deadline. Gallen and Bassitt could both be available again as well as a lot of other MOR options.

I think he probably knows more about SS#2 than us. I figure he plans on getting him back sooner than later
I disagree. I said before the offseason started that counting on Schwelly to be healthy all year was fools gold. Even called bone spurs.

I just hope they don’t rush him back trying to cover his failure and run him for next year. Nothing like getting back and finding out they are still there and it causes more damage and another operation.

I hope he pitches again this year, but not at the expense of his future.

It is a great plan for a rebuilding club. What other contenders are going into the season seeing what they have? Maybe there are others. Idk

I understand wanting one every year but it’s not super realistic. I mean before 2021 we hadn’t won a WS since 1995. So what 26 years? And it’s not like we weren’t making the playoffs during most of that time either.
Cool. Maybe by the time we get another one the "hope" strategy will have died.

It is what it is at this point.

I am excited to see the young guys in spring.
I hope ss is pumping 97-98
I hope sale is sale most of the year
I hope Holmes doesn’t fully tear his UCL
I hope Lopez shoulder problems are behind him
I holeAJSScanget a few innings in this year on his come back

But if shit hits the fan, then no one can blame the baseball gods. This is all on AA not addressing all those hopes.

If last year didn’t teach people that a team has to make the playoffs before worrying about “playoff SPs”, they will never learn.

Holmes is on the well worn TJ path many other pitchers have taken. Lopez is suffering from recurring shoulder injuries that very rarely go away. Strider can’t throw more than 95 mph anymore. Sale is a hard sneeze away from the DL. It is beyond stupid to think these guys will hold up, and even worse not to plan around them getting hurt.

This rotation is going to be terrible if those very likely scenarios come to pass. Listing out 6 names of terrible options does not make those options any better just because people recognize the names.

Seeing as most teams aren’t the Dodgers more than you’d think. Most teams have question marks in their rotation are in big trouble if they lose 2 of their top 3 starters and a lot don’t have solid 5th starters

The writing is on the wall for some of these guys already

My biggest question with AA is why he’s lost so much aggressiveness. He knows the team has one more hole (probably two now with Schwelly's injury) to fill, and AA from a few years ago makes it happen. AA now feels incredibly risk-averse. Such a big shift in philosophy is odd.

Certainly concerning, but he hasn't thrown in like a year, so I'm sure he's being ramped up
Yeah, he averaged around 95 MPH last year and in 2024 with his fastball, so it's hard to be too concerned when he clearly isn't throwing hard yet. He hasn't thrown much in a year lol
