2025-2026 offseason thread

He told us this like a month ago haha regardless, it's definitely not "good" by any means, but it'll be interesting to see what we hear in January when AA expects more concrete news. The Braves need to hope for the best but expect the worst.

It's hard to know exactly where the money stands right now (though yesterday's moves make me think it's better than we realize), but the team would be smart to add one more high-leverage arm — Suarez or Fairbanks would be perfect — and then re-sign a Kinley or Pierce. If they do that, the bullpen is already in really good shape regardless, and it has a chance to be elite if Jiménez returns
He definitely needs another closer type in case Iglesias craps the bed. Suarez from SD would be a big get and Fairbamks would be good too.

I think his season affected the amount he’ll get, but I don’t think it necessarily will make him some sort of bargain.

Iggy didn’t have a great year and multiple teams wanted to pay him $16m. That says Williams will still see a significant pay day.
1 year and 16 million. Not exactly a ton of risk there.

If Williams gets close to what Tanner Scott got (or better), I'll eat some crow. If he gets 3/45 with an option (like I've seen thrown around on several sites) then Williams would have been a far better option.

Rosenthal wrote this morning that we're one of eight teams on Corey Seager's no-trade list. Kind of surprising - he's from North Carolina.

Not that surprisingly depending what other teams are on it. Some players put contenders on there since those are the most likely teams wanting to acquire him. Or maybe he just doesn't like Atlanta.

I just disagree. Don’t want to give a RP with control issues 3/$45m. I’ll take the low-risk 1/$16m.

I saw Spotrac had Fairbanks' projection at three years, $41M, so about $13.5M per year. Honestly, that's a near perfect move for Atlanta unless they can get Suarez to sign a two-year, $25M deal or something close to it.

That's normal. Players often put good teams on their no-trade because they know those are the teams most likely to be adding and it’s a nice little extra payday when it gets negotiated.

I do think AA has a lot more to spend than some thought. The to do list shrunk by 2 yesterday so things are starting to pick up. I'm curious what his stance is on giving up a pick to sign somebody like Cease.

Seagar's contract is just so hard to absorb. I realize on the surface he would probably get 6/180 right now if he were a FA, but he's 31 and he can't stay healthy.

You can take that risk on someone like Buxton who only has 3 years remaining. But 6 years at 30m per is tough to take on.

I just cannot imagine he gives up the pick AND pays the salary. The pick being No. 28 with the value attached to it is hard to move. Cease would probably be the only guy he'd consider using it for though...

He did not say he had another surgery a month ago. He said he wasn’t sure of the time table on his return and they’d know more in January.

Iglesias for 16 million is retarded. The only good thing I can take from this is they must have way more than what we think to spend. As I said before I think they can spend a lot in terms of this year but dont want the risk of a big contract. Maybe if a good deal pops up like Buxton who is making about half his market value they do it. I think Acuna impending FA even as far as it is away is holding the team back from making large committments.
