2025-2026 offseason thread

I will say this. After reading the article again, he doesn't say when the Braves checked on Dubon. It's entirely possible he was one of the many names we checked on at the deadline.

It's also possible he's checking in on literally everyone because that's what a GM is supposed to do. lmao

dubon played every position except catcher last year and did it competently; he'd be solid on the bench. the only substantial claim in that article is that the braves looked into trading for him; the part about dubon being our starting SS is supposition from bowman.

some of y'all are heading into "mad at AA because i had a dream he signed garrett anderson to DH last night" territory

Dubon would be a valuable asset as someone who could move around the diamond and give guys a day off at a number of positions (provided Weiss breaks the previous all-day/everyday pattern of the past few seasons), but he's not a full-time SS.

But Garrett Anderson is at least a professional hitter….

I'm getting kind of tired of this thing where we trade for someone I've never heard of, so I go to B-Ref and try to find something of value with the guy.

He was reprehensibly bad last year, even within the context of Coors Field -- 70 ERA+, 11 HRs in 42 1/3 IP, 25 Ks, 20 BBs. Was kind of a big deal in college at Ole Miss. Pretty generic and forgettable professional career -- struck out 32 in 29 1/3 AAA innings this year, which is about as good as it's gotten for him in the upper minors.

Missed that he's a former first-round pick.

there is nothing exciting about his pitching inputs, his pitch velo, his pitch movement or anything else other than a decent mix of pitches that all suck. this is just makin a move to make a move. Somehow this ass-shat is worth adding to the 40 man roster, but Blake B. wasn't worth protecting. AA is so over rated...
