2025-2026 offseason thread

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind bringing Ozuna back at this point. With how the last couple years have gone with the offense performance and injury-wise. I’ll take all the good bats we can get. Just as long as we’re still cycling people through DH a couple times a week.
I feel like Ozuna is someone who will wait out the off-season, waiting for a team to guarantee him a starting DH spot. Once that never materializes, he would probably be open to returning to the Braves as a bench bat for a few million, is my guess.

Ozuna would be crazy to come here and be the last bat off the bench in a game that doesn’t do much pinch hitting anymore. Someone desperate for offense will give him a spot.
I mean, he wouldn’t be a bench bat at this point. He’d still be one of the 4 or 5 best hitters in the lineup.

Ozuna will land somewhere for sure it just won't be here. They wanna be flexible with the DH spot now and that won't happen with Ozuna back and he won't wanna be a pinch hitter.

The problem is the hitters slated to “replace” Ozuna’s projected .337 wOBA are all significantly worse than he’s projected to be.

Yaz at .317, Dubon at .295, and Murphy at .311 aren’t exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted guys to split the DH PAs. The offense is about to be measurably worse than it was with a healthy Ozuna due to the mediocre options AA acquired.

Probably should at least look at the hand pitching they will face. Ozuna is projected at 116 wrc+ this season. Last season vs rhp, yaz was 126 wrc+, dubon was 111 wrc+ vs lhp, and Murphy was 123 wrc+ vs lhp

All I’m saying.

Which hinges on Snit-lite understanding how to utilize those pieces. Hopefully that can happen.

If Weiss can figure out the platoon thing then overall the Braves are better with Dubon/Yaz than strictly just Ozuna at DH.

Yaz vs RHP - 126 WRC+
Dubon vs LHP - 111 WRC+

Their defense is also miles ahead of Profar/Acuna who would be the actual DH on those days

No one posted that the Red Sox acquired Willson Contreras, took on most of his contract and gave up 3 prospects?
I think someone mentioned it a page or two back.

to be honest it seems like the value on both sides is too close to get upset about one way or another. the prospects would barely crack the braves' top 30 at best, and contreras' remaining 2/$35 is a hair lower (AAV) than what josh naylor just got.

I would bet pretty strong on Weiss getting the job with the understand that he will be given cue cards that he's expected to use
