2025-2026 offseason thread

Yeah it makes no sense to me to give up guys like that when you can just sign Bassitt or Imai. I know those guys not having picks means more $$$ but that’s preferable to giving up a guy like Caminiti.
Agreed. Bassitt makes as much sense as anybody else does at this point. I'm guessing he's wanting more years. I wouldn't go more than 2 years for him.

I’d guess that his market hasn’t really developed yet. Imai is likely the next big pitcher to sign. Then Suarez’s Valdez’s and Bassitt’s markets should start to open up
Hopefully AA can jump on it soon and get something worked out. I won't be surprised if he gets one of the bigger fish. I wish we could have gotten Cease.

After looking up Tatsuya Imai's stats I'm gonna choose him. Hitting 99 and having 4 pitches and all he costs is money. It'd be nice to bring a guy like that in from Japan and get some of that spotlight on Atlanta. Ton of potential.
There hasn’t been a whole lot of info about possible Imai destinations which sounds like the Braves MO.

Also correcting myself from earlier Imai’s posting window ends on the 2nd. Okamoto’s window is up on the 4th. So we should know about Imai any day now.

Us not hearing the Braves connected is usually a good sign. I hope AA takes a chance. He could be an elite closer with his stuff if he failed as a starter. Wonder what his contract will look like.

Funny enough, New York Post Sports said earlier today that Imai has not yet received a single offer and his window closes on Sunday. I'm sure someone will take a chance but he should be a lot hotter of a commodity.

Sounds like a big game of chicken going on. Probably gets flooded with offers New Year’s Day

It's hard to say with the Orioles, but I'm guessing this takes them out of the big-name market.

It's not elite, but Kyle Bradish, Trevor Rogers, Shane Baz, Zach Eflin and Dean Kremer has the chance to be really damn solid.
It's fine but it's just their division is so damn difficult man. Toronto is gonna keep adding, Boston is good, Yankees are the Yankees. Tampa's in retool mode.

With Ritchie being close and Waldrep turning the corner and Caminiti gonna be in AA this coming year I don't see AA trading all of that or at least 2 of them for a TOR SP. We need that quality depth so just spend the money on a SP.

It can take years for those prospects to establish themselves in the majors. I think a midseason trade would make more sense now. I could see a big trade for Ryan/Buxton. Probably the better we are to start the year the more willing I would be to make a big trade using prospects. I dont want to trade them to get an average team to the playoffs I want to help a 95+ win team win a championship. If we are good and we got the chance to add those two and run it back again with them next year I am all over it. Its not just about them being good its about their money. Ryan owed 5 mill this year. Probably over 10 mill next year. Buxton is signed for 3/45. That allows us to add more. The luxury tax will be more an issue in the following years as the tax rate goes up for going over in multiple consecutive years. 2-3 more years and they will want to reset the tax penalties again.
