Lets all just agree that Meth is the gift that keeps on giving.
I think it was just an update from one of the beat writers that said he will be out until at least May. Sounds like the time frame maybe moved back just a bit.Is the Murphy news just official now? We knew last year he was likey to miss some time.
Yeah we need another bat.I think it was just an update from one of the beat writers that said he will be out until at least May. Sounds like the time frame maybe moved back just a bit.
I am more curious as who is replacing the RHH production that Kim and Murph could potentially provide for the first 2+ months. Is AA really going into spring hoping Eli can carry the RH pinch hitting role?
My guess is Bassitt is holding out for 3 years. He's quickly losing leverage though. Ozuna can't have much of a market. Offer him a few mil to come back.Bassitt is still the perfect fit bc of his durability and short term commitment. I'm surprised something hasn't gotten done unless he wants to many years or AA is trying to trade for a better starter. Either way I hope whoever it is don't come with a lot of injury concerns.
Not too much wrong with bringing him back if it's cheap.I think Ozuna would be a great gamble if he isn't too expensive. I think health had a lot to do with his season last year
I know we need another SP but at least we have depth there with Lopez, Holmes, Wentz, Elder, Waldrep, and Ritchie. We have 0 bats for depth in the minors. I wouldn't be opposed to Arraez bc he can play a few positions and can hit pretty well. A hip for a catcher can have a ton of set backs so we may need to realize that Murphy may miss most of next season. It might be a good time to mention the Braves have exactly 13 position players on the entire roster right now, and 3 of them are Nacho, Eli and someone named Jorge Mateo. That's the exact opposite of a deep roster...it's literally as thin as it can be under current roster construction rules.
They need to add some bats.
It’s as much about quality as it is about quantity. The bench players they have added are much better than the ones they had last year. That matters when you have to count on them for bigger roles than intended for a couple of months. It might be a good time to mention the Braves have exactly 13 position players on the entire roster right now, and 3 of them are Nacho, Eli and someone named Jorge Mateo.
