The Braves offered more money to Freddie than they gave Olson ($28m compared to $21m AAV)We could have kept Freeman for the same contract we ended up giving Olson. And we could have kept the prospect package that included a catcher that would end up being a 3-4fwar catcher.
Even as well as Olson has played for us, the opportunity
I’m shocked MLBTR didn’t include the Braves as one of the 13 options for best offseason.

Braves final offer was 5/140. He signed with the Dodgers for 6/162, with 57 deferred, giving a real value of about 148. So while the contract was larger, he will take home less due to higher taxes in CA.The Braves offered more money to Freddie than they gave Olson ($28m compared to $21m AAV)
Freddie took less money to go to LA.
It’s about time folks get over that.
4 years $88m remaining when inferior players like Naylor and Alonso are making more money. AA could trade Olson tomorrow and get a bigger prospect haul than he gave up to acquire him.Braves final offer was 5/140. Freeman then fired his agent for the debacle. I suspect he would have taken 5/140 from the Braves, but his agent allowed AA's deadline to expire, and once AA moved onto Olson the Dodgers were his only choice.
It's very hard to lay blame on AA for Freeman not being a Brave. I do not consider that series of moves a failure on his part, though I still question the extension.
I bought into the hype and had him sign a not so cheap bat. I can barely see the signature now. But my Chipper Jones bat has held up really well.Man. I was all about that guy as a prospect back in the day.
Well we couldn't have easily signed Freddie for that because he refused the deal. Not really. The FA signings have been meh. And the trades have mostly been awful aside from Sale, Olson and Iggy. And the Olson trade was unnecessary since we could have easily just resigned Freeman. We basically gave OIson the contract Freeman was wanting.
If we don't make the playoffs this year, AA has gotta be fired. You can't run a top 6-7 payroll and miss the playoffs 2 straight seasons.
Just so hard to get mad at missing the playoffs when the injuries mounted. Am I to blame him for Profar getting suspended? Thats a tough sell for me especially when we was really good when he played. Kim was a great trade/signing but again a freak injury.
I agree though that he shouldn't consider himself to be on sound footing for the future.
Unfortunately it does seem like the most likely culprit this time around. But if that is keeping us from signing a useful piece like Littell for $10 mil or less, I question whether whatever they come up with for tv will be sustainable for the season. If AA was really told to kill spending because of that, why was he allowed to sign Kinley for $6 million in mid-January when we had just as many different relief options as starting pitching options?Speaking of tv, the plan needs to be released soon. It's getting pretty close to the season
Not true. At least in total dollars. The Braves offered more money to Freddie than they gave Olson ($28m compared to $21m AAV)
Freddie took less money to go to LA.

Incorrect. Freddie was holding out for 6 years. We gave 6 years to Olson at roughly the same AAV we had offered to Freddie. If we had offered 6/160 to Freeman, he'd be here now.Well we couldn't have easily signed Freddie for that because he refused the deal.
The owners may as well walk out onto the interstate and set themselves on fire if they bang a whole season. The sport will never recover.Hope you enjoy this season. There will probably not be one in 2027

again. Not trueWe gave 6 years to Olson at roughly the same AAV we had offered to Freddie.

again. Not true
The Olson extension was 6 years $132m ($22m AAV)
The Braves offered Freddie 5 years $140m ($28m AAV)
I wish Freddie was a Brave for life but let’s be honest about whose choice it was that didn’t happen
We played a little hardball at first. Chipper would have never gotten that treatment. Freeman was the franchise. Give him a little more than you want right away. The Braves offered more money to Freddie than they gave Olson ($28m compared to $21m AAV)

Absolutely this - AA tried to get a “deal”Incorrect. Freddie was holding out for 6 years. We gave 6 years to Olson at roughly the same AAV we had offered to Freddie. If we had offered 6/160 to Freeman, he'd be here now.
