2025 Around The League Thread

Alcantara pitching today, so we won't see him this weekend. There - that's all the good news I have

Mike Soroka was placed on the DL with a bicep strain. He was really good for the short time he was healthy, which seems like forever ago.

Insane. I understand the Jays gotta spend to keep up with the rest of the AL East, but that is just insane. They should heed the advice of Kenny Rogers and know when to walk away.

I do have real concerns about the hitting, but they've also been tremendously unlucky - especially Baldwin and Olson with RISP. They've already lost three one-run games and been close in a couple more. The concerns are valid, but if this team is 4–5 heading into the Phillies series, I don't think we're complaining too much.

Here’s my main thought: the Braves have an unbelievably talented roster - no question about. But this funk doesn’t feel like it’s about mechanics or strategy. It’s mental. They need a spark. A leader to step up. And if no one on the field is going to do it... Snit, where you at, buddy? I’ve never questioned his leadership, but he admitted last year that pressing got to them. His real job is keeping these guys steady emotionally - in and out of these funks. So do your damn job.

I feel like Austin and Ozzie have been around long enough on this team and seem to be mature enough that they should be the ones stepping up into that leadership role. Certainly Acuna as well, but a leadership role just doesn't seem to fit his personality. He's a big energy guy.
