2025 Around The League Thread

I was just poking around mlb and saw a few interesting bites I didn't see here.

Looks like the Faillies grabbed Robertson for prorated 16 million.. crazy.. wonder if he will be able to provide much being this late in the season..

then I saw where Scott left with stinging sensation in his forearm for the Dodger$..getting an MRI.. might have dodgered a bullet there.

Strider's last 8 starts:

48.2 IP, 2.77 ERA, 2.48 FIP, xFIP 2.93, 11.65 K/9, 1.07 WHIP

Stuff wise, Strider isn't quite back to previous levels. His FB is now very average compared to being elite before. But his change and his curve have improved pretty dramatically and both have rated as plus pitches on Stuff+ over his last 8 starts. Combined with his SL, he now has 3 plus offerings to go along with a FB that has plus velocity but not much movement these days.

He may never get back to 2023 Strider, but this version is still pretty damn good. With these improvements on his secondary pitches, the rest of the league better hope he doesn't get his pre-injury fastball back, because he will be downright unhittable.

From what Ive seen of him this year he's becoming much more of a slider pitcher - which isn't a bad thing. We see how well that works for Sale, and he doesn't have an overwhelming FB.

I'm hoping it's more him just learning to trust the brace than the velocity isn't there
there is probably a little bit of that, but these guys work all off season conditioning and strength training.. Strider didn't have that and then got hit with a hammy... I just don't believe that he all of a sudden can't throw the ball hard anymore..
