2025 Around The League Thread

I know Bellingers name has came up as a possibility but depending on cost he plays all 3 OF spots and 1b and that would be a big deal for us having someone that versatile. Hes represented by Boras which sucks but he's at almost 4 WAR so far and just turned 30. I don't see him getting 30 but 4 years at 27 per I could see.

I'm sure the cubs wanna keep Tucker. The braves basically have a ready made lineup for next season. If I were AA, I'd try to get Swanson back. Let the cubs eat some money. I prefer Swanson over bichette...

The defense between the two isn't close. Dansby is much better. Here's each actual/expected offense...

Bichette:
.306 avg, .308 xBA
.471 slg, .489 xSLG
.354 woba, .363 xwoba

Swanson:
.248 avg, .276 xBA
.405 slg, .493 xSLG
.303 woba, .352 xwoba

So if you're a believer in expected stats, Swanson is pretty close as a hitter while being a better fielder.

Get Swanson, woodruff, resign Iggy, another backend reliever, extend sale, and perhaps fraley.

Si
If Swanson is so good, why would a contending club trade him AND eat money?
They have Hoerner for SS and Rojas as a top prospect for 2b. More money for Tucker.

And I don't think they'd eat a ton of money.

And I don't think Swanson is great. I think he's solid with plenty of pop left. He would fit great at the bottom of the lineup, and there's really no one to spend on at SS

We need to stay away from injury prone players with how the past 2 years have gone so Correa and Buxton would be a no go for me. Murphy would be the clear player to trade to upgrade SS. Even if we had to add a prospect with him to get them. Not Swanson but a young longer term guy.

I would love a younger guy at SS, but I can't see one. St. Louis is keeping their 2 with the Milb guy at 3b now. I'm scared of lawlar considering he hasn't hit a lick at mlb level. With plenty of money available, I prefer to take a safe, overpriced veteran over an unknown. We hopefully have our SS in-house about 3 years away. I wanna spend on a big time SP, pen, and a safe bet at good production at SS

I'd shoot for Walcott from the Rangers. They have Seager so he might be available and they need a C. The Cubs are in full contention mode so they'll probably keep Swanson and still sign Tucker. Tucker has been getting booed a lot in Chicago lately and hasn't played like he normally does so he may not wanna stay. We no doubt need another good SP, SS, BP arm and DH/OF.

Someone mentioned story, and I could be sold on him
