2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Anthopoulos may stupidly sit on his hands and make no more moves this deadline, but the certainty with which you say things sometimes astounds me. How can you definitively say “the run on bullpen arms has happened and it’s over now”? Like, that’s not even evidence-based—there are still plenty of BP arms on the market.
The list of teams looking for pen arms is shrinking however... and you remove the Faillies and Mutts and that list is even smaller. Seems like a smarter move would have been to strike a deal a week ago and get what you can early before the big sellers flood the market.

I didn’t say no more BP arms would move. I said the run on BP arms happened. A “run” on players means the flurry of moves where the bulk of them move. In a draft the “run on shortstops” did not mean no other shortstops were drafted.

And yes, AA missed the run on BP arms.

Still more than two and a half hours to go, but I’ve seen nothing from the Braves side in a while as far as rumors go. We know AA likes to keep things close and not leak anything, but is getting a bit concerning

Whether buying or selling midseason, I always favor the strategy of making moves sooner rather than later against the deadline. For whatever reason, Anthopoulos likes to strike early in Free Agency, but more often than not work down to the wire midseason.

You can hate on it or not. That's where he's ranked.

And Jesus Made is #2 overall on FGs site while being a level lower and the same age as De Vries.

I mean I don't really care. It's not a list I trust when looking at prospects so their opinion doesn't matter to me.

But by saying “Anthopoulos missed the run,” you’re implying the window is closed. That’s how those words work.

It’s the authority with which you state things that are actually equivocal that’s the issue.

AA right now

I in no way claimed the window was closed. In a fantasy draft if you miss the “run on QBs” you can still draft a QB. People still draft QBs after that run, and that term is commonly used in exactly that manner. For example “I’m going to wait until after the run on QBs to get mine”.

You not understanding what a “run on” a type of player means is not my concern.

So again, AA missed the run on BP arms.

I think you’re a smart guy who’s added a lot to this discursive community.

I also think you write (and perhaps think) with an overwrought certainty and authority that reminds me of how I expressed myself in adolescence.
