2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Is there ever a second run?

Ever done a Fartlek run?

What about this run?

Is that the track workout where you funnell up and down the distances as in do a 100 yard, followed by a 220, followed by a 440, followed by an 880, followed by a 440, followed by a 220, followed by a 100? I was a quarter-miler (also ran the half a few times) and our track coach made us do that workout at least once a week. Sprinters and long distance guys were exempted.

I feel like TEX and BOS are our best shots with Iglesias at this point. Both have LH closers (Garcia, Chapman) and could benefit from a high-leverage righty to setup or share the closer role. If / when one of those teams goes in a different direction, my level of worry will rise significantly. TEX especially really needs to make an addition (or two) to the backend of their bullpen.

Ever heard of Trea Turner? James Wood? Max Fried? Josh Naylor? MacKenzie Gore? David Bednar? CJ Abrams? Emmanual Clase?

Preller has unloaded an impressive amount of young talent. How he keeps reloading it is crazy.
And the Padres haven't been in the World Series since 1998.

I’d recommend reading the blurbs in both guys. FG very clearly explains why they favor Made.
I'd recommend understanding the context of my post.

thewupk said "he's no Acuna and at 18 still a ways off." in reference to De Vries.

I was pointing out that FGs number #2 overall prospect is also 18 and playing at a lower level.

I think you’re a smart guy who’s added a lot to this discursive community.

I also think you write (and perhaps think) with an overwrought certainty and authority that reminds me of how I expressed myself in adolescence.
Once again, AA missed the run on BP arms. That’s a fact, no matter how you understand that phrase.

Sometimes missing the run is a good strategy, but it doesn’t change the fact that you missed it.

So for 17th time, AA did, in fact, miss the run on BP arms. And again, for the 16th time, that doesn’t mean he won’t trade a BP arms. He simply missed the main flurry of moves involving BP arms.

This is a very odd thing to take offense.

And we’ve reached the point of arguing semantics.

Made is a better prospect than De Vries according to the sites trusted by most people. At the same time, De Vries is a valuable player who was likely an overpay for miller.

Any other nuance arguments is nothing more than being argumentative.

It's not semantics. You just have zero reading comprehension and butted your nose into a conversation for no reason than to make a snide remark.

The post I was replying to said "The guy the Pads gave up is not the # 3 guy. Top 20, sure, but he's no Acuna and at 18 still a ways off."

I was just pointing out that FG has a guy the same age and a playing at a level lower. That is the point. I'm sorry you are having trouble comprehending that.
