Padres Targeting All-Star Catcher in Trade Deadline Blockbuster: Report
The San Diego Padres are reportedly targeting All-Star catcher Sean Murphy from the Atlanta Braves at the trade deadline. The Padres currently have two catchers
Leo de Vries is in A ball, but he's currently the No. 3 overall prospect on MLB.com. He'll be harder to pull than Williams, imo. This is exactly the type of interest that Murphy should have, which is why it was always so odd to see people here describe him as part of the problem this year now that he’s finally healthy. Who knows how long that health lasts, so if Murphy can get a contributor for 2026 the deal needs to happen.
Murphy plus cash plus a BP arm might be close to that Rays SS.
Murphy alone should be enough for the Padres SS prospect.
And the Padres just gave him like 5 million 6 months ago.Leo de Vries is in A ball, but he's currently the No. 3 overall prospect on MLB.com. He'll be harder to pull than Williams, imo.
A yr and a half ago, but the point is valid. And the Padres just gave him like 5 million 6 months ago.
Ok then maaaaybe not him.Leo de Vries is in A ball, but he's currently the No. 3 overall prospect on MLB.com. He'll be harder to pull than Williams, imo.
That's right I thought January of 25 but it was 24. The Padres would be more willing to trade that the Rays probably though bc of payroll.A yr and a half ago, but the point is valid.
We have the upper hand in any trade bc we don't have to trade him. If a team doesn't give up what we want then move on.Ok then maaaaybe not him.
The point about Murphy’s value, and the only scenario it makes sense to trade him, stands.
