From a value perspective this certainly seems to be true, but impossible to know obviously. That means we could have EASILY gotten Leo de Vries, plus more by trading Murphy and whatever players on expiring contracts they wanted to the Pads and picking up all the salaries for 2025.
AA, respectfully, go eat a dick.
I would love that package if the Braves would have sent Ozuna/Iggy and Murphy along with the remaining 2025 salaries...That means we could have EASILY gotten Leo de Vries, plus more by trading Murphy and whatever players on expiring contracts they wanted to the Pads and picking up all the salaries for 2025.

Spoiler...those arms are a rounding error in that deal.Man someone should tell them not to take so many pitchers, they get hurt.
Actually scratch this. From a value perspective this certainly seems to be true, but impossible to know obviously.
At the very least we know that SS was available. If AA could have gotten the best SS prospect in the sport for Murphy and didn't...that's a huge miss.
That is not even remotely how this works. The Padres likely valued Miller way more than Murphy. Also, values are just different per player...That means we could have EASILY gotten Leo de Vries, plus more by trading Murphy and whatever players on expiring contracts they wanted to the Pads and picking up all the salaries for 2025.

As a GM you have to deal with people even if you don't like them so if AA doesn't wanna go after player X bc of his agent then he has no business being a GM. They have been after Cease for a while now while knowing who his agent is so we'll see.but has AA ever dealt with BorAss before.. I think I read something that he didn't draft someone in the first round this year because he was a BorAss client.
The Pads may have viewed Murph differently so we'll never know or they may not have even asked about him.
sinking feeling AA is going to do nothing. Would be multiple failed deadlines and a really bad offseason. Yikes
I mean he's already having success in A+ ball. He wouldn't start out of the gate, but he could easily be a guy that gets called up in June if he is legit. And by all accounts, this kid seems like the real deal.Actually scratch this.
This kid is younger than I thought, and won't be contributing in 2026.
While valuable, he is NOT the SS we are looking for in a Murphy deal.
Sure we don't know how they valued him. But objectively, Murphy is way more valuable than a non-elite closer. And Sears barely has value. That is not even remotely how this works. The Padres likely valued Miller way more than Murphy. Also, values are just different per player...
