From a value perspective this certainly seems to be true, but impossible to know obviously.

At the very least we know that SS was available. If AA could have gotten the best SS prospect in the sport for Murphy and didn't...that's a huge miss.

This kid is younger than I thought, and won't be contributing in 2026.

While valuable, he is NOT the SS we are looking for in a Murphy deal.

That is not even remotely how this works. The Padres likely valued Miller way more than Murphy. Also, values are just different per player...

but has AA ever dealt with BorAss before.. I think I read something that he didn't draft someone in the first round this year because he was a BorAss client.

As a GM you have to deal with people even if you don't like them so if AA doesn't wanna go after player X bc of his agent then he has no business being a GM. They have been after Cease for a while now while knowing who his agent is so we'll see.

Also from a playoff point of view another shutdown reliever might be valued more than a top tier catcher like Murphy.

But as was pointed out earlier. A Murphy for De Vries swap doesn't help the 2026 Braves out.

I forget that he Ozuna situation isn't toally on AA. But I would be shocked if Iggy is still on the team after today.

I mean he's already having success in A+ ball. He wouldn't start out of the gate, but he could easily be a guy that gets called up in June if he is legit. And by all accounts, this kid seems like the real deal.

Sure we don't know how they valued him. But objectively, Murphy is way more valuable than a non-elite closer. And Sears barely has value.

I don't know what the "and more" consisted of, but Steven Kwan is also objectively way more valuable than Mason Miller.
