4/14/15 GDT Jace still out of the lineup

Joe deferred to Skip and Pete's age, to some degree. Ditto to Sutton's experience. He had such a good rapport with Boog that Boog could challenge him, because he did it in a funny, self-effacing way. Chip doesn't give a counterpoint to Joe, ever. He defers to him in all things. I don't know if Joe has gotten worse, but now he is allowed free rein to be the "expert."

Remember that Chip (and Steve Stone) got run out of the Cubs' booth for criticizing the team.

Chip does give counterpoints to Joe, but they're like rhetorical you-already-know-the-answer counterpoints. They're like the worst and most obvious answers.

"Well Joe what about this, should _______ do this?"
"Yeah I think so".

Yeah, and it's almost like he's kissing his ass when he does it too. Kind of like when you want approval from your boss or something. It's pathetic.

Our announcing crew is awful

I agree there

Has been for a while and joe is bad anyway imo. Having to be around chip just makes him worse

I'm honestly okay with Chip. He's a weird guy, but he's our weird guy. Joe is awful. And he comes across this year as being bitter that the Braves didn't field a team full of "go the other way" guys. It's nauseating.

I love our radio crew though. Jim Powell is tremendous and Don is fun to listen to. Television viewers deserve that combo over Chip/Joe.

I've never understood the hatred this board has for Joe. I like him, Chip I'm not crazy about. I wish Schiambi would have stayed. I thought him and Joe had good chemistry with one another. Joe is fine though.

I always hated Sutton. Glad he's not on TV anymore. Just has no energy. Almost like he's bored to be there.

you like joe but don't like don? jesus christ...

in other news, why the hell is trevor cahill on a major league roster, let alone starting for the braves? had he been cut yet?

It's funny, but I couldn't disagree more. I listened to the radio broadcast for a few innings two nights ago when I was running and between Don Sutton's odd nasal breathing sounds, slow and disjointed game-calling (I could literally hear the umpires making the calls atleast 4-6 seconds before he spit it out, Powell had to help him out explaining things several times), and bizarre digressions, I could barely wait to get home to flip back on the TV and listen to Tom Glavine parrot everything Chip and Joe say. That, and while I like Jim Powell's play-by-play, he can be seriously over the top sometimes.

I used to like Sutton when he was on TBS, but he's always been my least favorite of the crew.

This is my favorite Chip Caray call of all-time. He was clearly working his way up Powder River that night.

Wait, he's mad about this years team? If anything they are punch and judy types that should give him an erection.

I think some guys have a radio and TV personality. Skip was somewhat different on the radio than he was on TV. Pete was great on both because he didn't really chance. I think Sutton would be better for TV as would Powell even if they both can be a little over the top.

I probably care about lineups less than anyone on here.........but, todays makes me say holy ****. I guess Goss is considered the better hitter vs. righties nowadays and our cleanup hitter is Cristian Bethancourt.

Maybin
Gosslin
Freeman
Bethancourt
Johson
Gomes
Peterson
Simmons
Stults
