4/27/15 MLB GAME THREAD Braves/Nats: Markakis still at the top - Peterson batting 7th

I'm not making the mistake of anything... The team needed to invest in one of them, period. If they did - you could make the case to trade the other.

In fact - I think our team could have been set up much differently if they had the EXACT same offseason, without making 2 of the trades. The trades they shouldn't have made were the Upton and Banuelos deals. If everything else happened exactly the same - I'd actually think we had a decent shot at wild card this year...

1. Maybin

2. Markakis

3. Upton

4. Freeman

5. CJ/KJ

6. Pierzinski/Bethancourt

7. Simmons

8. Callaspo

We'd have the same pitching staff, and the bullpen would have Carpenter and Shreve. We'd have the money to afford JUpton. We would have replenished the farm with Gattis and Kimbrel trades, along with the smaller ones. And we'd be in much better shape for the future.

And that's with the dumb signing of Markakis included

And in the real world how does Justin feel about the Braves discarding BJ? So you make those moves and Upton leaves...then what? There goes a future 2B & CF option along with a potential 2/3 starting pitcher.

Fredi got a little pissy about the HBP. Said Tron's slide wasn't dirty.

"I'm was surprised to see it. Maybe I shouldn't be."

Tron said he expected the HBP, not bothered by it, glad it didn't escalate. Slide was "going hard to the bag."

LOL ok then sorry I brought it up.

Freddie sounds upset that Hirschbeck dropped an F bomb on him. Said Hirschbeck instigated. Said he got thrown out because he waved his glove at Hirschbeck.

Did you see the Fredi quote?

"I didn't realize you could argue after the play, so I didn't see him yapping at the umpire before it was too late. I hear the check call was close, real close, but I haven't seen the video yet, so I don't know."

Yikes.

Couldn't watch last night until the end, but afterwards, the ESPN crew said on post-game BBT "we're not going to spend much time on this one (the game) because it was just a bad game." AKA because Baby Brycie didn't win.
